Israel: Diplomacy working against Iran

Contradicting a New York Times assessment that diplomatic efforts to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions have accomplished nothing, senior Israeli security officials said yesterday they believed international diplomacy has achieved some success and should be continued. The Israeli assessment, which was presented to Sharon's security cabinet July 21, claims diplomatic pressure has delayed Iran's progress toward nuclear weapons by about two years or until 2007. Previously, Israel said Iran would possess the ability to produce enriched uranium for nuclear weapons on its own in late 2005.

Israeli sources say the United States, Britain, France and Germany should be credited for their hard-line messages to the mullahs, but they also explain diplomatic pressure has recently been eased, partly because of the upcoming American elections and Iran's "attempts to buy time."

Prophetic Perspective:

Iran, at the heart of the region in which ancient Persia sat, seems to be the spot in the Middle East that at this time presents the world with nuclear high anxiety. Iran is President George W. Bush's second leg of the "Axis of Evil," which he pronounced as such when the war on terror was declared. That demonic region (according to the prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation) seems to be preparing to live up to its apocalyptic reputation. Ezekiel prophesied that future military forces of that region will storm against Israel in the Gog-Magog attack (Ezek. 38:5). Old Testament prophecies indicate pillars of fire mixed with blood will be seen during that time, their descriptions seeming to indicate explosions much like the nuclear blasts we have seen in our day. God himself will put an end to the aspiration Israel's enemies have of destroying that nation. Only one-sixth of the forces that attack Israel will be left when the Gog-Magog attack is turned back. Material for nuclear weaponry is apparently being produced in the ancient area called Persia. The fact that a hate-filled, possibly nuclear regime now resides where prophecy says a great war against God's chosen nation will begin hints of that future attack, and of the war called Armageddon.

What a silly rant, I don't particularly like nuclear weaponry, but since Russia, the Usa the UK France Israel, India, Pakistan and others already have nuclear bombs I can't get too upset about Iran having them. Just because the Iranians at times challenge US interests in the Middle East doesn't make it quite the font of all evil that people like you want it to be. This axis of evil nonsense is a sound-bite thought up by a presidential speech-writer, and has little to do with political reality, where in fact Iran has fairly harmonious relations with most of the 'west' including the USA when it suits them. Pease remember that even in the 80'sat the height of USA Iranian tensions the Reagan had Ollie North doing dodgy deals with all these dreaded Mullahs.

Do you wonder that christianity is held in such low esteem when people pick up virtually any political or siocial development as a portent of the end of the world. Do you people feel stupid or even a sense of guilt everytime you are proved wrong!

There is a small difference here, folks.

Iran has publicly stated that they want to destroy Israel and has threatened to nuke it as soon as it can.

That is dangerous talk that Israel will not take lightly.

On the other hand, Israel has had the weapons to rule the Middle East for quite a while and has not once made an aggresive move.

It's the difference between a cop having a gun and a murderer having one. Only one of them is a threat while the other is a blessing.

Iran isn't stupid enough to use nukes, or at least I hope they aren't. You forget that Iran's hatred of Israel is more fueled by their hatred for us over what we did in the past.

We overthrew the democratically elected leader of Iran and replaced him with the Shah. After making Iranians the enemies of Americans, the U.S. government gave weapons, intelligence and money to Iran's mortal adversary, Saddam Hussein.

You trust cops? I thought you lived in L.A.

I don't trust cops and never have, so with my world view I don't trust Iran or Israel with nuclear weapons.

wow...that is so far off the mark.

You really think that?

Their hatred for us and Israel has to do with the Islamic revolution that sprouted there in the 70s.

It is a religious based hatred for jews and christians that will not be appeased. They ARE stupid enough to use nukes...and they are stupid enough to state it publicly.

while all that is true....it isn't the root of the problem in Iran.

We need some law enforcement; they just shouldn't have too much power, then you'll have a police state.

Go back a minute here:

I thought we were *suppose* to be helping democracy to succeed all over the world, we're *suppose* to be good, not evil? That's what we're told....that's what we Americans like to think.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
