Imagine how you could clear a traffic jam ahead of you if you mounted one on your car! Yeah but the explosive rope thing would leave a lot of "stuff" to clean up out of the way..... The laser would jut vaporize a clear path through the traffic for you. Probably wouldn't hurt nearly as bad as the explosives for the unfortunate people in your way..... but then, once you use it most likely everyone else would simply get out of your way.
