In recent years, Key was a senior pastor at TLC Community Church in Memphis, Tenn., which was his and DeGarmo's hometown. Christian musician Todd Agnew, whom Key signed to Ardent Records some years ago, wrote on his website that Key was "a believer and proclaimed Jesus Christ. Dana was a mentor and role model to me. And I absolutely love the sold-out lyrics of "casual Christian"! I remember their beginnings. One of my first cassettes by them had a song called 'long distance runner." I also was blessed by Dana Key's solo music, later. Eric Clapton lost his little son in a tragic accident & wrote a song about it called, "Tears in Heaven." In a loving response to this, Dana wrote Eric a song called,"Dear Mr Clapton." ( If you have never heard it, I would highly recommend it.
