Purgatory

Hi! Everyone!

I would like to hare my brothers and sisters comment if they are willing regarding the Purgatory in Catholicism. As for me I sum it up with these precious verses.

Hebrews 1:3 - Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

I just believe that Christ's Precious blood saved me from my sins.

If you want to call my relationship with Jesus Christ "a religion", then I am a Christian, a follower of Christ and one of the "called out ones". I am protestant, evangelical, charismatic and pentacostal. I think that pretty much sums it up.

Interesting discussion.

The concept of purgatory is NOT supported in Scripture, at all, categorically.

Paul says that when we are 'absent from the body', we are 'present with the Lord.'

And the Bible is clear in that Hell is a place of permanent anguish.

There are no other options for the spirit of man after death,; it's either Heaven or Hell.

Here is what The Bible says about what happens to us when we die.

Luke 16:22-26

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

This would rule out that entire Catholic doctrine of puratory, and any other denomiantional doctrines that don't line up with This Scripture.

well, here is my opinion on the topic of Purgatory.

Sachi...you are right in saying ....it is either , Heaven or Hell.....

When JESUS walked the earth , HE spoke of Heaven and Hell....

He never mentioned a place called purgatory.

There is no where in scriptures, of a place called purgatory, or even that word

written.

I think in the Bible, it says somewhere, about doctrines of men....(?)

although i am not sure on this....

I was catholic all of my life up until about 5 1/2 years ago.

I learned a lot of truth, about GOD, going to a non- denominational church,

and studing in the King James Version.

Remembering back on studing the Catholic Bible, i realized there was nothing written of a place called purgatory.

The truth shall set you free.....

I am born-again and baptized with the HOLY GHOST !!!
