God calls women to be ministers as well as men. I can show you passages refering to how God has used women in the Bible. : 1. Judges 4:4 -- Deborah, a prophetess : 2. Who was the first evangelist? Read Matthew 28:1-8; Mark 16: 1- 13; Luke 24:10-12; John 20:18. : Other scriptures teaching about women in ministry (of some type): : Romans 16:3,6,12 : Other prophetesses in the Bible: : Miriam -- Exodus 15:20 : Huldah -- 2 Kings 22:14 : Noadiah -- Nehemiah 6:14 : Anna -- Luke 2:36 : Daughters of Philip -- Acts 21:9 : Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:34, 35 talks of women keeping silent in the church, and studies behind the background of Corinth shows that in that day many unlearned and ignorant women were proclaiming a truth that was not fully what the Bible states, and Paul was trying to rectify this problem. NOTE in verse 34 that he says "Let YOUR women..." : I know women preachers and pastors, and they are as spirit-filled as any other pastor. People take one little passage like 1 Corintians 14:34,35 and they make it something out of proportion. : Remember, people also think that the saying "God helps those who help themselves" is in the Bible...

Women ministered to Jesus: "Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God. And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: Matt 27:54-55 (KJV) 2) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. GAL 3:28 3) In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him. Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created." Gen. 5:1 - 2 KJV 4) In the gospels we read of several women messengers who proclaimed "GOOD NEWS" Check out (Matthew. 28:1-10; Luke. 24:9-11; John 4:28-30; 20:16-18)2) 5) In Acts 14-21 and Joel 2:28-31 God predicted and promised that He Himself WOULD POUR OUT HIS SPIRIT UPON all flesh (men @ woman) AND THEY WOULD PROPHESY. "He that prophesieth edifieth the church" (1st Corinthians 14:4). Prophesying is for the church and general public. (1st Corinthians. 12:1-31; 14:1-6; 12:24-26, 29-33) 6) In Acts 21:8-9 it is clear that PHILLIP'S FOUR DAUGHTERS WERE PROPHETESSES, THAT IS, THEY WERE EVANGELISTS LIKE THEIR FATHER. This is in perfect accord with Joel 2:28-29 which was fulfilled in the early church (Acts 2:16), and with Acts 2:17-18 which will be fulfilled in the last days 7) In Romans 16 we have record of a number of women servants of the Lord in various churches. PHOEBE (Verses 1-2), PRISCILLA (V 3-5), MARY, TRYPHENA, TRYPHOSA, PERSIS, AND JULIA (Verses 6-15) ARE MENTIONED AS LABORERS IN THE LORD 8) In Philippians Chapter 4 verse 2, EUODIAS AND SYNTYCHE ARE MENTIONED AS BEING LEADERS OF THE CHURCH AT PHILIPPI. 9) CORINTHIAN WOMEN PROPHESIED AND PRAYED IN CHURCH (1st Cor. 11:4-5) so the scripture in 1st Cor. 14:34-35 that is used to condemn women ministers does not refer to preaching, but to disturbance in church services, asking or talking out to their husbands, as stated in 1st Cor. 14:35. Even so with 1st Tim. 2:11-15 10) In 1st Corinthians 12 Paul compares the church to a human body and mentions 9 gifts of the Spirit, including the Gift of Prophecy, FOR ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, MAN AND WOMEN 11) Women were used of God in the Old Testament days as PROPHETESSES (Exodus 15:20; Judges. 4:4; 2nd Kings 22: 14; 2nd Chronicles 34:22; Nehemiah 6:14; Isaiah 8:3; Luke 1:39-56; 2:36). The law made provision for women to make sacrifices, attend feasts, and make vows (Deuteronomy 12:11-18; Leviticus 27) 12) God has used a rod (Exodus. 4:2, 17); An ass (Numbers 22:28); A ram's horn (Joshua 6:5); An ox, goad, nail, barley cake, pitchers, jawbone, millstone (Judges 3:31; 4:21; 7:13, 20; 9:53; 15:15-19); Mantle (2nd kings. 2:8); ditches (2nd Kings 3:16); Empty vessels (2nd Kings 4:3); Cruise of oil, ravens (1st Kings 17:4, 16); Worm, wind, fish, gourd (Jonah 1:4, 17; 4:6-7); cock (Mark. 14:72); And many other weak things to confound the mighty (1st Corinthians 1:18-21). Is it not possible then that he can use a woman minister?

First thing Women in the Old Testament are not the same as women in the New Testament, different Covenants. So you can discount that understanding. Also before Christ did everything the New Covenant was not in full force, but when there is the death of a testator, then the New Covenant was established, and we are justified by His resurrection. Then even Newer things were added to The scriptures. Daughters of Philip -- Acts 21:9 : I do not remember what happened with them, what did they do. Other scriptures teaching about women in ministry (of some type): : Romans 16:3,6,12 Do all these speak of women in ministry I do not have the scriptures in front of me. Well women can be leaders, or servants, but are not supposed to lead other men, the men are supposed to do that. Now if the men do not do that righteously, then God will use women, yet this is not in His perfect will. Paul was lead by God's Spirit to say women should not take authority over men, men are to have the authority, which is also what Jesus Set up, by having 12 apostles that were men.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:34, 35 talks of women keeping silent in the church, and to not ask questions in the church, that says women, that means women, that means women if they want to be righteous should obey this scripture. Now if I can remember what else is said in the scripture. I think the scripture goes something like this, or are you alone the ones who know God's Word. There can be two understandings of this, but trying One understanding is more correct then the other one. I would lean to the understanding of do you not truly believe this is His Word, or do you think you know God's Word more then us.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

This is true we are all one, but the Jew did things more so in the way of obeying the Laws of Moses, and the Greeks had there customs, the bond were slaves, and did what they were told to do, hopefully as long as this did not go against God, the free were free, and did what they did, the males had different things they did then the female, and vice versa. Yes, we are still one in Christ, but we do different things, the things which are our callings.

9) CORINTHIAN WOMEN PROPHESIED.

They can be laborers by doing other things then preaching, and teaching The Word of God, they were called to bring people to the men in charge, and if some men did not understand that, then they would have them teach other men.

Being leaders in the church can be done in different ways, and not just by teaching the Word of God.

If Corinthian women prophesied, and they most likely did, they were to do this not in the church, God would let the men know what needed to be done, for instance when Paul was around He would do this, and other men would do this, and women would not prophecy, because God is not a God of confusion, but of order, so women can prophecy more specifically to those who do not know God, or are not following God, but that is only when a man is not around to do that. God will choose the men to be in control, unless they are evil. God's will is for men to be in control, but sometimes they do not fullfill what they are supposed to.

If GOD calls a woman to preach, who are we here on earth to say, judge or condemn and say that they aren't called of God?

Sorry I didn't answer.  I failed to see the question in this post.  Are you talking about having one wife or not?

I am glad God allowed you to return to the pulpit for atleast a short time.  It is an amazing experience.  I have always loved being in the pulpit.  I think I am most comfortable there when I am confident that God has written my sermon.  Sometimes a sermon can be a struggle, but God can take my menial attempt at a sermon and breathe life into it if I seek Him.

I have not really read that scripture thoroughly yet.  I am at work right at this moment and do not have my study aids at hand.  But I also need to take it into context too.

It doesn't have really anything to do with this, or did you make the tie and I missed it.  It is possible.  I try to read through pretty quickly and that was one LONG post.  But so nice to hear you testify.

I have not been offended, and never intended to ignore your post, sometimes someone's post catches me and I get stuck on it, so I miss the ones around it.  GBU

Shelby,

Yes I was talking about the Scripture verse everyone has been quoting about a pastor being the HUSBAND of one WIFE and associating tht with my struggle. My first wife left me and even though there have been those who have offered different interpretations to this verse I am still very cautious and have never pastored again because I do not want to be found in contradiction to Scripture. One person said that since it didn't specifically mention divorce a widower who remarried couldn't pastor again.

It was the most awesome feeling to be able to preach again. I felt so close to God and it seemed as if God was giving me the sermons like he had never done before. Anyway thanks for responding, just wanted to know your opinion and anyone else's.

Respectfully,

Strservant

It was to my understanding that Decon was a husband with one wife. i could be wrong though

You know I just posted this in another thread but I think it pertains here too. The question was: Why do Christians believe differently?

We are human. Born into sin and only saved by grace. All we can do is live for Christ. Sure I disagree with people pn here, but I think that the basic things that are necessary to salvation we all agree on.

1- God came to us in the form of Jesus

2- Who died on the cross for our sins and rose again.

3- We must repent of our sins and dedicate our lives to the Lord

4 - We must live a daily life dying to self and glorifying God as best we can by reading the scriptures, praying and fellowshipping with fellow believers.

The rest is semantics. God will deal with those other minute issues later. He spells it out really well. God will convict those of the sins in their life that are hindering their walk with Him. If that person chooses not to listen then it will be dealt with at judgement. But God will judge us by the sins we commit physically and in our heart that we have let get in the way.

We will be judged by what we know. I know that God has called me to be a minister and I followed that will. He has called us to so much more though. And to get hung up on semantics and scripture picking is only taking the focus off God and onto ourselves to prove ourselves right. God will allow His spirit to work in all of us and convict and move in our lives in a way that will compell us to do away with sin, especially perpetual sin so that he may draw us closer.

If God has laid it upon your heart to become a pastor again, then I say go for it. I have always told my husband and friends when they come to me for advice, walk in a direction that you feel God is leading you, if that is not what he wants for you pray that he will close the doors, and if it is to open them. You will get your answer. God will deal with the hearts of others. People will be touched by your humbleness and servanthood to Christ, and I believe this will be a non-issue.

PLUS - That is one verse in a chapter and book of many more. Context my friend. Pray, pray , pray, it will never hurt to just take it back to the Lord every moment that you feel it take ahold of your mind. I know the struggle. I am a woman, I am an ordained minister. I have never questioned my call, it has never been an issue for me or anyone in my church. But I came here and there is such a controversy, but the controversy doesn't sway me, If it happens, it will be Christ. He has only confiirmed this calling of rmy life over and over through all of the discussions on this subject.

God will give you the words you need. He will provide you with the road to walk down. I say start moving in a direction back to pastorhood, and if it is God's will it will happen, and if not, he will have something even better for you!

I do believe that! GBU

I think the topic about pastoring after divorce is interesting. Maybe someone should start a new one to discuss it? Also, Shelby, do you disagree that it's God's design for a husband to have authority over his wife? That a wife should submit to her husband?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
