Did anyone watch the debate last night between President Bush and Senator Kerry?

According to the debate watchers Kerry won the debate but I gave up halfway through it.

Also did anyone notice the President's left side? It seems to me he has had a small stroke or something. His speech wasn't as smooth as it usually is either? Any thoughts?

IMO, Bush started very strongly, got caught in a quagmire in the middle, but came on strong at the end. I am going to vote for Bush, and had made my mind up prior to the debate. In the middle 2/3 of the debate, GWB was tenteative, had trouble finding words, and his body language while Kerry spoke was horendous. I thought GWB did an excellent job at the beginning at pointing out that Kerry's methods are not presedential leadership, and I appreciated the point that GWB made toward the end about Kerry bowing to global opinion. I would hope that people like Steff saw a huge difference between the 2 candidates hear. GWB will not bow to global pressure whether it be the UN, the international criminal courts, or just the court of public opinion, where Kerry will basically wait to be told what to do by the UN, the EC or some other "global authority". That is a huge difference.

Great thread and so much to talk about...but my thoughts are so...um...what is the word to describe how I feel? Think I will go to the elections forum where maybe I can voice my opinion in the proper forum.

Praying hard for a Bush win. :)

The terrorists have always been there... remember this is their "holy Jihad"... to wipe out Christians and Jews. They want the US out of the way to destroy Israel.

There were wars all throughout the bible.... to think that it's unchristian to go to war isn't true.

Kerry was very articulate and communicated very well...the problem was with the content of his message. He still contradicts himself and incorrectly accuses the President. He says the war was a mistake and a diversion, yet thinks he can rally other nations for support? Pshh.

Bush, on the other hand, stumbled and paused a couple of times...but the content of his message was authoritative and decisive. Two things he said that I thought were very important: how does Kerry intend on rallying support from leaders he has publicly criticized and when he calls the war a mistake? and while homeland security is important, we need to remain on the offense. we fight the enemy over there to keep them from attacking us here.

I appreciated the President's passion (though journalists have labeled him "grumpy"). I think he demonstrated how seriously he takes our national security.

What I don't understand...is with two candidates so completely opposite..how can there really be "undecided" voters? It's either/or geeze. Those who are undecided must be complete flakes if they are on the fence with these two...gah.

Islamic Fundamentalists were not welcome in Iraq and ruthlessly suppressed.

Everyone was ruthlessly suppressed. Saddam's perverted sons would scour villages and take virgins just to defile them, murder and terror were the very environment in Iraq.

I have no doubt that if Saddam had the opportunity that Hitler had, he would have made the kind of efforts that Hitler made.

As it was, he murdered as many of his own people as he felt the need to do, so how can anyone speak evil of his removal from power?

With all due respect Tim there have been many christians and jews murdered in Iraq before the war. Saddam and his sons murdered and tortured anyone whom they wanted to. I know of a missionary who was arrested over there and accused of spreading sedition. He wound up severely beaten and left for dead in a prison cell. So yes christians are persecuted there even before the war. Did you know that over there it is a crime to preach the gospel? Its punishable by death. So how did your view of being protected by Saddams secular government come about?

Tim I want you to know I am praying for you. From reading several of your posts I get the impression that you have a lot of hatred built up. So I am asking everyone here to please pray for Tim.

Second, No I am not the most intelliegent person in the world you are right. But I do read quite well as a matter of fact and I do have friends in the missionary field. I gave you a fact about the preaching because the man who was tortured is the brother of one of the ladies in our church. He has horrendous scars all over his body from that torture and by God's grace lived to tell about it. So I know for a fact he isn't lying.

You are right we didn't invade those other countries. Mainly because you fight terrorism on step at a time. Yes there are atrocities all over the world but the US cannot fight everywhere at once.

With all due respect to Mr Azziz, he cannot "protect" evdery christian there nor can he control what happens there to christians either.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
