Israeli officials said that if they eventually decide a strike is necessary, they would keep the Americans in the dark to decrease the likelihood that the U.S. would be held responsible for failing to stop Israel's potential attack. The U.S. has been working with the Israelis for months to convince them that an attack would be only a temporary setback to Iran's nuclear program.

I really hope this is the true reasoning behind it. I'm still praying that when the attacks do happen...and I believe they will, that the U.S. will stand behind Israel. If not, the downfall of this nation will be complete.

This article is not about the U.S. not standing behind Israel.

I understnad that...I'm just hoping that what the article says is true.

A few years beck, when the topic first came up, other said that the US would never turn against Israel. This is the very first step of doing so. By doing nothing to help them, we are turning our backs on them as a country. Prophecy is being fulfill once again before our eyes.

Um....OneLight....this article is not about that. The U.S. is fully engaged and providing support for any incursion into Iran by the Israelis while doing the Diplomatic Boogie before the world.

The US has been working in a unified effort with Israel to stop Iran from having nuclear weapons, this is not a secret. Yet, read between the lines. Why is the US not standing beside Israel when she needs us the most? It is the beginning to turning away. As with all things, it starts off with something small before growing into something bigger.

The article points out that this is a smokescreen for the U.S.....and it is. If the Israelis attack Iran it will be with American weapons and strategy. We've provided them more aid in the past fiscal year than at any time since 1948 and this has not gone unnoticed by the muslim countries.

Really? I would like to see your numbers. Here is what I found. Keep in mind that as the amount increases, the dollar has taken a dive.

Me too, Gael. As you know, one has to pick and choose carefully about what to believe. I trust NO media anymore, at least not totally.

The United States has been in talks for months with Israel about this situation and the administration keeps saying an attack would only be a temporary setback to Iran's nuclear program... I think that has more to do with them not wanting to tell us.

The falling dollar could play into that, yes. But the numbers on that link are for 2009. The following is from a year later; I couldn't find anything for 2011.....

I did find something earlier today, and when I get home from work, I will look for it again. Asking for and receiving is not the same. I do believe that in 2011 it is somewhere in the 3.4 B range, but that still does not beat 2000 where it was 4,1 B. Taking into consideration what one could buy in 2000 compared to today, that even increases the margin of spending power.

Yes, please post it. I never quite fully trust any type of reporting but I'm more inclined to believe the Israelis themselves most of the time.

Okay; this is roughly what I read on another site. And most really don't take inflation into account when talking about foreign aid to Israel (or any country). The U.S. is continuing to honor the committments made to the Israelis though. And, if Israel is going to attack Iran, I believe Washington already knows about it. Something is afoot with all these meetings going on in the past two weeks.

Financially, I agree. I would like to see the US stand physically beside Israel. The meetings are probably about the new bunker busting bombs that Israel will need to accomplish their task, which I do pray the US gives them.
