The abortion business has set up its own 40 Days of Prayer for the local abortion center. [steven Ertelt] On one level, I guess this makes sense – proponents of abortion, after all, have to force themselves into believing that abortion is actually a “good” thing, otherwise how could they continue doing what they do? This so-called “40 Days of Prayer Supporting Women Everywhere” was organized by the Humbolt County Clergy for Choice (pictured at right), which bills itself as “an official committee of Planned Parenthood.” Planned Parenthood has attempted to recruit pro-abortion clergy in the past. The flyer they are distributing to promote their campaign (pictured below) includes a phone number to contact the Six Rivers Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. Talk about the wrong answer to a prayer: You can see the full version of the flyer in PDF format here. Every Day includes a “meditation” promoting abortion, “choice,” etc. The whole thing does actually provide a somewhat interesting insight into the minds of abortion proponents and how they view the world. For instance: Day 6: Today we ask for blessings upon the women who pass through hostile protestors on their way into an abortion clinic… [When was the last time you saw a "hostile" protestor outside an abortion clinic? 40 Days for Life Promotes prayerful witness!] Day 9: Today we pray for women who are afraid of their lovers. [And abortion is supposed to be the solution?!] It’s also pretty clear that around Day 25, they started running out of things to say and started repeating themselves. For instance, Day 4 is basically the same intention as Day 27. And then, some are just plain weird: Day 30: Today we pray for women to throw away their secrets and claim their histories with power and truth. [Wha?!] Day 38: Today we pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility. May everyone feel calm and loving. [That's never an emotion I've seen associated with abortion!] Bottom line: this is a desperate attempt to take advantage of the wild success and growth of the 40 Days for Life campaign. But you can’t take the same “techniques” and get the same result when you are trying to twist them for an evil purpose. So we know that their 40 days of “prayer” for abortion is going nowhere, just like their pro-abortion agenda. If anything, this may backfire because it forces people to confront how ridiculous it is to pray for more unborn children to be killed. Now if people were to have such a realization – that would be an answer to a prayer!

How can so many forget that Jesus, Himself, taught us...that to get into Heaven we are to have 'childlike' faith. Children too are a blessing...not a curse or a thing to simply be done away with. As a mother of two, this is just...depressing and wrong. I say...if we are able....we try to have some serious prayer to lift up these who feel that God would want this. It is unfortunate. God will not give them an ear. His heart is breaking. James 4:3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
