God is quite explicit in the bible what He says marriage is. Just because cultures over centuries have sinned and had other forms of marriage or unions does not make it right in the eyes of God. Marriage is one man and one woman. Nothing more or less. Jews brought this story with the garden of Eden from the Babylonian captivity and changed it. It was part of the Elumna Elisch which is also a part of the Gilgamesch epic poem. The woman was the first person in it. The complete genesis dates from this "heathen" source. To say, that God was the first matchmake; it is a joke, also that a marriage may be entered into only between different sexes. The marriage has become a state institution. Only the state decides who may get married. If God also gives his blessing, it beautiful, but is not necessary, however, to be appreciated by the state.
