Matthew 24

7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Wow. Didn't realize this report would be viewed as "hype". It is a factual report of latest activity.

Actually, there was a "hype" attached to the facts:

"Perhaps, it may not be readily apparent to most that our planet appears to now be inching towards the spectrum of some major cataclysmic event."

I know we're anxious for the Lord's return, and so we tend to interpret things with expectation of this being a sign or fulfillment. But after over 20 years of interpreting world and natural events this way, and multiple "Yellowstone is about to blow" reports and the like, I've just gotten tired of anticipating something big around the corner and the corner never coming.

I wasn't interpreting one way or the other...just sharing some facts. I am somewhat tired of seemingly endless waiting too...but I have set my heart to being ever watchful & I think this needs watching.

Why is that hype?

Just curious.

I've already lived through Sandy, and I've been telling people since the next day that we're in the apocalypse, or end times. Some people agreed, but most just stood there looking very stoic. In other words they hoped I was wrong. As I've said before, this is not a very Christian area.

So now with this report of all these Earthquakes, there's 1 main question. Is the website that reported them a reliable website, or is it not? I don't know, but I do know it doesn't cost much to put a website up on the net, and virtually anyone can do it. I don't have TV service so I don't even know if any of the major news agencies have reported it. So I'd say anyone who has the ways, means, and the time to research this, they should. As I said already, I do believe we're in the latter part of the end times.

However, I will also agree with BFP, we adults should not discuss this when children can hear it. The night Sandy hit my area there was 1 woman here who had a 10 year old child. That mother started to cry and panic so much that the little girl was really scared. I doubt that child will ever get over the fear of that night. Even once we knew the water wasn't getting any higher, both the mother and her child kept crying in sheer panic. And that's why I agree with BFP, don't tell children anything more than they need to know.

I bookmarked that site. Let's keep an eye on it.

Sources can be checked.

Here's a link to a news story on the Solomon Island quake.

Only 77? Hmm.

On the usgs site on earthquakes, 2012 had 1523 quakes magnitude 5.0 and higher. Of those, 122 were magnitude 6.0 and higher. I dont know where you got your information from, but I trust the quake site I looked at. 2007 proved to be a more active year, with 196 at magnitude 6.0 and higher. 2007 saw 2270 quakes at magnitude 5.0 and higher.

As you can see by this graph, labeled Earthquakes located by NEIC magnitude 5.0 and greater, it shows that nothing is different so far compared to many years past regarding quake activity.

This is one of the best sites out there regarding earthquakes. No hype. Just the facts.

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

I especially love its interactive map.

I spent a long time looking at the quakes and aftershocks in Japan and Christchurch for days following their big quakes.
