AR-15 Giveaway Shut Down: Gun Business Has Facebook Page Taken Down

An AR-15 giveaway has been shut down by Facebook. A contest was created in February by Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms owner Erik Lowry, and now months later the fan page for Lowry's PTF gun store has been closed down by the social media company.

Lowry has claimed that he received no notification or warnings from Facebook, and that even his attempt to create a second website led to the new one being taken down by the social media company as well.

Not really. Facebook is just joining the communist band wagon. They allow other companies to promote their business, regardless of what it is-but they wont let one business give away a firearm? and on top of that, theyre not even being fair, theyre picking on this guy, because they know he can't afford a lawyer to fight them, the NAGR has been giving away AR-15s and $800s worth of ammo on almost a monthly basis for the last several, and they havent taken down their facebook page yet, probably because the NAGR can afford to take facebook to court.

Hes speaking hypothetically bo. Im sure there probably is, I don't know, but there are a lot of businesses that have facebook pages, and a lot of them give stuff away. His point was that theyre picking on this one gun business, simply because its a "gun business" and hes not big enough to afford a lawyer.

The Facebook page was taken down soon after, leaving Lowry furious. He has said that the Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms has suffered a dramatic fall in business since the incident, and as much as 40 percent of his business has dried up.

If this is true, his problems aren't with FB, it's with his promotions department.

yes, but the point is they shouldnt have man. it may have been against the TOS, that is a true statement, however, Facebook has allowed other entities to give away weapons and ammunition-as already stated in a earlier post, the NAGR (National Association for Gun Rights) has given away several AR-15s and thousands of dollars worth of ammo via facebook, and they haven't done anything to them. Facebook didnt even give this guy a warning, they won't communicate with them, theyre just picking on him because unlike the NAGR, he cant afford a big enough lawyer to take them down, and thats all there is to it-otherwise they would have shut down the NAGR a long time ago.

And its being overly picky, a giveaway of a AR-15 is not selling it, nor encouraging people to use it-just giving it away.
