I don't think we "learn" humility easily.

I think that eventually, (because some of us are slower students than others), God teaches us humility.

This often feels like punishment, but it's not. It is God's loving hand working on our hearts.

The BEST way to learn humility is to seek it out via emulation of the humble ones found in scripture such as Moses and David.  The WORST way is to emulate Satan's pride and find yourself abased for playing God.

If you tend to think of yourself more highly than you should, what is a good way to get a reality check?

At The Feet

Therefore being justified by faith,

we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed;

because the love of God

is shed abroad in our hearts

by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:1-5

Of Jesus

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

In my experience one of the best ways to learn humility is to play a computer game with an 8yr old, also confess to him that you remember a time before there was internet.   :grin:

As a teenager, I knew everything. Doesn't every teenager?

In my Twenties, I realised that I didn't know everything but I was arrogantly proud of what I did know and who I was.

In my Thirties, I started to take an interest in more of what I didn't know, but I was still proud of who I was.

In my Forties, I was looking for something else.

Then I found God and realised that I had little to be proud of, in fact nearly every memory that I have makes me cringe with shame.

Rather than being proud of who I am and what I know, I am deeply ashamed of who I became, and deeply ashamed by how little I know about anything. I am just an idiot like a lot of people. I am selfish, weak, a liar, a coward, and a boaster. I'm rude, I've hurt people, I've mocked my creator, I'm lazy, and I'm unimportant. Most of my life has been wasted.

The only thing that I am certain of now is that I can't do anything worthwhile without God and I am very grateful of his help.

by having been given an "opportunity" to die to your self-righteousness, self-vindication and self-wisdom (so that you can find your all in Him).

besides, humility before GOD means nothing if not proved before men.

No it used to be an amber color with a yellow type text. Seriously I remember! My first computer had a 20 meg hard drive!
