We are not to bring undue attention to ourselves with our clothes (vanity), nor are we to tempt others into lust by exposing unnecessary flesh (i.e midriff, cleavage, etc.). Because The Lord has called women to be modest..therefore we need to obey Him. We also don't want to place a stumbling block before men, especially our brothers in Christ. 1 Timothy 2: 9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works What are the guidlines for modesty? Well you are going to get quite a few conflicting opinions on this one...but..I honestly believe that we all know in our hearts what those guidlines are. What nebula has said is spot on. Matthew 5:27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old,[a]‘You shall not commit adultery.’[b]28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
