Much love again, Andrew...And I love what everyone has said...and really...I didn't address the whole request...the part about when the enemy tries to stop us...every road block will come up...I've experienced that too...and I have felt real bad over some things that I've had to let go of...because there have been some things that I really felt The Lord was Calling me too...but I have to remember if I've dedicated my life to Him and Trust That if I am in His Hands...then I am in His Hands...Literally I believe some times we are tested to see what we will do in a situation...It's all preparation because, eventually, He will push the "Go" button and you just know it's right!!! And I've lived it more than once...I don't have the training for medical help like you do...but God has put something on me that just amazes me because now I can really see how it helps...I know pact-ratting is not all good sometimes-but believe me it's not all bad either!!! Let me explain a little about what God has just made sure happened...Oh my...And this isn't the first time!!!

Living an amazing thing is just, well, "there are really no words to describe it" but lived...it changes us...This goes right along with what we are talking about...

I looked around one day about a month ago and decided it was time to clean out my daughter's closet...(I'm real sentimental and have been having trouble getting rid of anything of hers, Hahaha...even if she's outgrown it a year or two...Oh well...that's me...) so...here I am going great guns...just knew I was supposed to do this and when there isn't much room for anything new that would fit...Hahaha...its really time then...got that all done...then went shopping and found a few winter things she needed...so now we are all set...

The problem is: I have this mountain of outgrown clothes...literally a mountain...along with some other clothes that have come my way...(The Lord is Amazing) so now I'm praying...Lord...What do You want me to do with this? All kinds of scenerios went through my mind...Giving them away at my next yard sale...Giving them away somewhere...Donating them somewhere...Nothing clicked...Ok Lord...I'm supposed to clothe the naked with these clothes...I'm waiting...What do You want done with them? Then the hurricane (typhoon) in The Phillipines...Praying...Crying...Praying...And my husband calls from his work, one day, and says to me: There are donations being taken until such and such a date...for The Phillipines...Gather everything...I mean everything...So guess what else is being cleaned out...All of our closets...The Linen closet...Everything I'm donating is clean and in good shape...and I have never ever been more Cheerful to give this except the other time when it was a tornado in My Home Country...gave and gave bags and bags of clothing-and other things needed...Oh dear...We are His Hands On The Earth...

Father, I pray now for those that are giving their lives to You...Help strengthen them, I pray...Show them The Way...In The Name of Jesus...Amen

Ok!!! God will close a door for us so we will have to move on and continue finding a another "Right Door" to go through, but through that journey, Satan will try to distract us from finding that other door and will try to get us to go towards one of "His Doors!!", which is filled with sadness, pain, worthlessness, hopelessness, etc!!! :( That is what I think!!!

God bless you all!! :)

This question dovetails off my earlier post.  If God closes a door, we need to move on and continuing seeking his will for us.  However, we know that Satan wants to distract us and muddy our efforts at serving Him.

In an effort to serve others and honor Jesus, I want to go abroad on medical missionary trips.   I have the time and resources.  However, I attempted to do this about 2 years ago and ultimately quit trying because I felt as thought God was closing the door for that at this point in my life.  ( I had just added a newborn to my family of 2 boys, began coaching little league and joined a local church)

Recently I felt the call again to attempt a medical missionary trip, but I don't want to be pushing my will over God's.  Yet, I don't want to give up because the devil puts a few roadblocks up.

Have you ever struggled with this question?  I love to hear your input.

I can only give you personal experience over my 66 years.  If the devil gets in the way God will make a way around it if it's something He wants.  If he is closing a door, it's closed and whatever you do to work around it will just fail also.

several things my wife and I have been prevented doing that later in life showed us that it would have been disastrous.  In 1995 he kept me from doing my planned work one morning and kept me from being directly across the street from the truck that blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma city.  No one where i should have been lived....  I learned a long time ago to appreciate closed doors.

First you ask a good question because it show's a true concern for God's will. I have asked questions exactly like yours. This made me realize my main spiritual work is to put myself closer to God, first. You can't quite go and start ministering to the world without being severely honest with yourself in regards to your actions and relation with God. This means prayer, repentance, fasting (it doesn't have to be just food.) The point really is to develop your conscience. This is such an important point:

"...while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse them or even excuse them...on that day when...God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus." Rom 2:15&16

"...I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit." Rom 9:1

You see the better our conscience gets, the better our sense of right and wrong. We will better sense what God wants from us. Is there pride in your wanting to minister etc. Peter in "1 Peter 3:21" says, [that baptism is not cleansing the body of dirt but rather used], "as an appeal for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ..." I am not telling you to go at it alone but rather, just pointing out what will help you, discern more clearly. And whatever good you do, do it in the name of Christ.

Sometimes it is very difficult to determine whether hindrances are God's door closing, or Satan's meddling with God's will.  It's also true for the opposite, when things are going so well: is it a gift from God, or Satan encouraging you to think you've done the right thing?

The ONLY way to figure out which is which is to see what God says in His word.  If there's a passage that you read that nags you, that's Him telling you something very specific.  If you embrace that passage and honestly desire to listen to what He has to say, you're following His will.  If you read a passage and do NOT want to listen, or pretend it actually means something else, that's letting Satan mess around with you.

That's what I've learned.
