Vets Dying Due to Healthcare Delays - CNN

Recommended Posts

I didn't think up the title. CNN did. This is the VA hospital I have to go to since my company health insurance died of Obamacare poisoning on January 1st of this year. I'm a not supporting or condoning what was done in the article, if true, but the VA system is probably overloaded due to all the other vets who no longer have health insurance either. It also explains why I went in for a knee so painful I could barely walk on Tuesday morning of this week and never got to see a doc that day. Fortuneatly the knee is healing on prayer and I can almost walk normally again - no thanks to the VA.

I have had VA health care for many years now.....   I don't use them all the time.

It's been my experience that VA health care is pretty good until you need to see a specialist...   Then if it's not an emergency it can take a long time to see the specialists, and when you do if they can't fix it within a short period of time care drops off pretty quickly.   They nearly permanently messed up my left wrist last year.   Took two surgeries to fix what I broke and instead of healing in five or six weeks, it's been nearly a year and I'm still working on getting the full feeling and movement in my fingers and wrist.

But for normal general stuff and check up's, it seems ok.   For my primary physician I can usually get an appointment in a couple of days.  Much like our family doctor.

This is appauling!! These men and women put their lives on the line to fight to keep our country free and our people safe, and this is the treatment that they get in return. This is shameful!! These men and women deserve better!! Those responisble for this dispectable treatment of our veterans should themselves be forced to use the VA as their only means of medical care. I would be willing to bet that if they had to use those services as their only means of medical care there would no longer be any secret lists nor would there be any long waits to see doctors. Something certainly needs to be done to correct this immediately. We ask them to go into battle to fight for our country and our people and they cannot even ask us to be seen by a doctor in a timely manner, something is defidently wrong and very sickening with this picture. I am ashamed of our government and our leaders for allowing this to go on.

For those who have served in the military, I would like to personally thank them all for their service. I would also like to extend my heartfelt appologies for the suffering that they are enduring at the hands of our Veterans Administration. Each and everyone of you deserve better!!

The problem with VA care is the same as we are starting to have with or without Obamacare....     it's the shortage of doctors and nurses.

Obamacare will exacerbate the problem, but it's been growing for many years.   I personally know of three doctors that ended their careers 15 to 20 years ago because they didn't want the insurance companies telling them what they could or couldn't do.   Then it was Medicare limiting what they would pay for.

Truth is that our whole medical system has been getting closer and closer to pricing itself out of the reach of much of the population for decades.

Obamacare is just an attempt to make us all pay for everyone's care, but even at that, the expense is quickly growing that we all will not be able to support it.      For most of us it's expensive to grow old....    years ago we just died, but now we run up large amounts of health care to keep us alive......   and someone has to pay for it in our system.    Ultimately we will have to decide if we want to pay for people to grow old.

Our government decided a long time ago, that the key to winning re-election is bribing the zero liability voter to vote for them at the expense of everything else, military, infrastructure, public services, and healthcare.

The treasury has been looted to the tune of 17 trillion dollars, plus the trillions more in unfunded liabilities.  Of course basic quality of life services are suffering, but at least we have lifetime Senators and Congressmen, bribing the electorate with its own money.
