Your Sin

Do you have one thing that just seems to keep coming up over and over. Even after being saved this one thing just keeps getting you?

I just want to know if it is normal to continually struggle with sin. I know it is, but since we so rarely talk about our failures and shortcomings, I thought I would just see what people deal with on a regular basis. I know I have a bugger that seems to catch me and seems to be the root of all my troubles. I've been saved for some time, I attend Bible college and preach on a regular basis.

I find it hard to believe that we stop dealing with sin. But in my case I feel that I have it all wrapped up except this. Everything else I don't really see as a chronic thing, simply slips and mistakes. But this just gets me. I both love it and hate it, it's a perfect example of flesh and spirit.

I want this to be blind to specifics, but direct to regualrity. do we all have one specific thing that we are plagued with. Please be honest, give me that much. If you simply have no serious problem with sin, please let me know how, and what you've overcome.

thanks for you input

He that is without sin, let him cast the first vote. :)

I find it hard to believe that you only have one sin. We are all sinful creatures, that's what keeps bringing us back to Christ. If we had no sin, we'd probably be a lot prouder and self righteous than humble and compassionate. You really can't understand the lost sinner unless you have really blown it sometimes yourself. God uses even our mistakes and weaknesses to make us better and closer to him with soft hearts full of love and compassion for others. That is, if we let him and turn to Him for help. Sometimes you can be a better witness to others through weakness because the lost sinner will sometimes look at a supposedly sinless person's sample as something that is unatainable to them, but if you share about how you have gone through many of the same battles and you are still wrestling with sin, it gives them hope that God will love them too, even if they aren't perfect. I hope you get my drift, not an excuse, but an explanation of the hope that is within us, that being "Christ in us", the only hope of glory. Sometimes sinlessness and "holiness" is nothing more than a pride trip.

I see what you are saying, and thank you for what you have said.

I agree none of us has only one sin. I suppose what I meant was one particular "monkey on the back" if you will. Certainly I struggle daily with many things. It is those things that I choose, sometimes not even willfully it seems, that gets me. I wonder, where was my faith, where was my dependance. Why did I act so. And why, knowing it is sin, do I crawl back to it?

Our goal is and should be holiness, in spite of our knowledge of imperfection. though we cannot attain to it I do believe we should ever strive for it.

Thank you for you comments. :)

PistosHuios,

I know what you're talkin about. None of us can honestly say there is no sin in our lives...we all make mistakes. Still, with some of us, there is one particular act or thing of sinfulness that we just have the roughest time completely giving to God. We don't want it in our lives, but at the same time....it's so hard to let it go. We wonder why we give in, why we crawl back, why we allow ourselves to act in such a way.

I know what you mean, and I have a problem like this as well. Sometimes I feel so worthless...like I'm such a failure, but I know a lot of that comes from satan. The truth is, no matter how many times we stumble, we need to get right back up, and back in the fight. Sometimes I torture myself and make matters worse, but in the two years I have been serving Christ, he has never once told me I should give up when I mess up. He always says to me, "Get up, and try again." We just need to give whatever it is that holds us down to God. He most certainly will take it if we are willing to give it up. I know that is easier said than done, and sometimes it's hard to know how to give it to him, but it can be done.

Hang in there! If you stumble, always get back up and try again. Victory is already your's in Christ Jesus. God Bless You!

I do have a sin that just gets me, over and over and over again. I'm sick of the guilt, my weakness, and my lack of faith when it comes to defeating it.

I just asked God, "Why do I keep doing it?"

I so hate this human nature!

But O, a day is coming, when these chains will fall away, this burden will be lifted, this thorn in my side will be gone, and I will be FREE!!!

Praise God!!!

warm regards

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
