There would have been hundreds (literally) of tongues threads since, LOL. But anyway, my answer is yes I do speak in tongues. Do you understand what you are saying? Do your listeners understand? Does it enhance your relationship with God? I pray in private, and no I can't understand what I am saying, nor could anyone eavesdropping, unless they were an interpretter. Yes it does enhance my relationship with God.

The Scripture PASSAGES below explain what this baptism is all about. And the important DETAILS in each passage are shown in the chart below. Do your listeners understand? Does it enhance your relationship with God? Paul mentions tongues being used to talk to God (aka Prayer). I use tongues to pray. No, I do not understand my words. It's great for me because I often have urges to pray but do not have the words, or if I want to pray from my spirit without my thoughts and will getting in the way. Yes, it does enhance my relationship with God.

What I have heard practiced in American Pentecostal/Charismatic churches doesn't qualify. "Shonda dabonda galonda, si my new bow tie" (and other such foolishness) is hardly a foreign language. When you couple such nonsense with other alleged manifestations of the Spirit, like barking, howling and shaking and so forth, it turns a church service into a circus. The evidence of the Holy Spirit is love, not tongues.
