Moises and Messiah Yeshua Ben David

We all know well the story of Moshe (Moises) and the Exodus from Eretz Mitzraim (Land of Egypt), but how does Moshe compare with Mashiyach Ben David, (the Hebrew name of Messiah, Son of David) our LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Are there similarities? differences? Let's look at some of them.

Both were born, sent by God, to be redeemers to lead a people bound by slavery

to freedom. Moshe took Am Israel (The people of Israel) from captivity in Egypt, and lead them to the promised land, across the River Jordan, to the Land of Canaan.

Mashiyach Ben David was send by Adonai, to lead not only Am Israel from slavery, but also Am Goyim (the gentiles). He came to lead both "amim" (peoples) from the slavery of sin, to be free from the bondage of sin.

Moshe and b'nei Israel (children of Israel) left Egypt and went to Canaan, to escape certain death and continual bondage by Pharoah. Mashiyach Ben David left Israel with Miriam and Yosef (Mary and Joseph) and went down to Egypt to escape death by King Herod.

Moshe was a good shepherd, who tended his father-in-law , Jethro's sheep in the desert area of Madian for 40 years. Mashiyach Ben David communed with his Father in the desert of Judea for 40 days, afterwards, began his ministry and also tended his father's human sheep (and still does through the Ruach HaKodesh) the (Holy Spirit) and IS the GOOD SHEPHERD.

God through Moshe turned water into blood to be the first judgement on the land of Egypt. Yeshua turned water into wine, to be a blessing at the wedding at Cana.

Sefer Shemot (book of Exodus) says that the water turned to blood brought death

(fish died in the Nile). Yeshua (Jesus) is the LIVING WATER that brings life, his blood also cleaness sin and thus gives us eternal life.

The last judgement brought death to the first born of Egypt (to those who did not put the blood of the lamb on their doorposts). This was a heartbreak to all the families of Egypt. But...God's divine judgement and retribution "eye for an eye" (Pharoah ordered the new born Israelite babies to be thrown into the Nile)

Death also came to the Only Son of God, it was a heartbreak for the Father too.

Death of the first born of Egypt brought suffering, but the death of Messiah brings us eternal life and hope.

On Erev Pesach (Passover Eve) the blood of the sacrificed lambs and goats was sprinkled on the doorposts, and saved the lives of those behind them. The blood of God's sacrificed Lamb saves our lives and brings us into a covenant relationship

with Echad Elohim (The ONE family of God) Yeshua Ben David gave up his life for you. Have you accepted him as YOUR Messiah?

I invite all who read this to our Messianic Synagogue "Beth Yeshua HaMashiach" in Houston, Texas, at 7000 Bellaire Blvd. We are located at Sharpstown Baptist Church. Tel: 713-771-WORD.

Hi Ya'akov. Great article...it is amazing how many similarities there are between Moshe and Yeshua HaMashiach which goes to give miraculous Scriptural endorsement of the mission and authority of the L-rd.

Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Thanks for the invite to your Synagogue but I live in the UK and it is an impossibility...but I am sure some others who live closer at hand might enjoy some great fellowship.

My favorite comparison between Moshe and Yeshua was how they both were chosen by Adonai as a mediator between God and man.

This is what they were supposed to see in that verse;

Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Before Moshe, the comparison of Yosef and Yeshua are even more amazing.

Joseph was hated by his brothers because His father loved him so much. They "disposed" of him and as a result, Joseph became a ruler of the gentiles who later redeemed his brothers...and revealed himself to them. "What you meant for evil God has used for good"

This is but a shallow glimpse at the similarities between them. Anyone care to elaborate further?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
