Did they go to heaven? I heard somebody saying that,if not for Christ, all of us would have perish in hell fire, Which i understood very well, My question is,those people that died before Christ came and laid down His life for our sins, Where was their destination? Heaven or Hell fire?

Jerry, Neither Heaven nor Hell Fire. All the souls and spirits of the dead went to Sheol [also called "the grave" or "the pit" or "hell" (which created confusion)]. Sheol is called Hades in the New Testament, and there were two sections in Hades, one for the righteous and the other for the unrighteous (see Luke 16:19-31). Ever since the resurrection of Christ, all the righteous (believers) go directly to Heaven, but the unrighteous await their final judgment in Hades. One day those unrighteous will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

Hell, or Hades, is where the unbeliever goes to await the judgement. Prior to Jesus, the righteous went to sheol, also referred to as Abraham's bosom. Jesus emptied that out by my understanding, so now you have believers going directly to Him, while unbelievers still await judgement in Hades. Sheol or hades is where the unbeliever goes to wait judgment.Hell is empty at this time. All of the believers are now in heaven waiting their resurrected bodies. Those who go through the Great White Throne judgment will all be thrown into hell or gehenna along with Satan and his angels. It is thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. Guest Teditis
I think unbelievers go into a place of waiting... or the other side of Abraham's Bosom, what I've thought to be Sheol... while believers go to Heaven.
