One of the lessons I had to learn........ The Scriptures were written to another people at another time. You need to study the culture also. The Word is abundantly clear on every issue you mentioned, except gun control directly, of course. On the issue of gun control......practice, practice, practice. If you do believe in God, and that he is everlasting, omnipotent, omniscience, and is the end-all, be-all authority of the universe and everything in and out of it, then past, current, or future social norms should never be used as any kind of measuring stick. Nothing of man or of the world should be the measuring stick. It is only His word and His opinion that ultimately matters, no matter how the current social climate may shift or change. And frankly, from taking a look around, while technology has advanced, mankind really hasn't. The same issues dealt with in the Bible thousands of years ago are still the same issues at the core of our world today. Clearly mankind hasn't figured things out for themselves. 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV -- All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, Matthew 24:35 ESV -- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away Thank you for your inquiry, and God bless! It has endured for centuries as a standard for measuring civilization. Today we measure the Bible by our social norms instead of measuring the social norms by the Bible. It shows how our uncivilized our civilization has become. The Bible is a book of law and order. Our culture has been growing toward anarchy with the followers of Allinsky, the community organizers who seek to capitalize on every opportunity whether true or not, to create political unrest, dissatisfaction marches and riots. Their goal is a Marxist society which casts aside Biblical truths. So for the last 80 years Harvard has been teaching that there is no black or white--just shades of gray. This thought has pervaded the country. The Bible, according to them, cannot apply to our civilization because, we have been brainwashed to believe, we are modern, advanced, and shades of gray. 70 years ago students were trained to be independent thinkers and were rewarded when they challenged what they were being taught. Today students admit that they had quickly learned to parrot back what the professors believed. Those that challenged were failed. So we have a society with no roots, that can be swayed by every wind of teaching or doctrine. It can easily be swayed by the mass hysteria being promoted at our political conventions, for instance. I once did a term paper on propaganda techniques which turned out to be one of the best things I did in school. It opened my eyes. For one thing, advertising techniques are very similar. It helps to recognized the wiles of the enemy, to be as wise as serpents but as innocent as doves. So our society has been trained to believe that the Bible does not apply to today. We are too sophisticated. We are technologically advanced and broad minded. We are inclusive of sin and exclusive toward Biblical morals and those who uphold them. And we are blind to the gross harm and degeneration that is befallen our society by such sin. The values of the 60s with its free love has destroyed individuals physically, mentally and spiritually. Children are unwanted victims. Human life is no longer valued. The young and the elderly are expendable. The end justifies the means and truth and justice are arbitrary. What a mess!. The only answer is the Bible, which was inspired by our Creator. It alone is a compass that shows the way out of our cesspool. It points to a loving Creator Who came in the form of a man to show us the way out of the mess. It starts with individuals changing their minds about sinful lifestyles and coming to Christ for forgiveness; we must trust in His death as payment for our sins. granting us forgiveness, and belief in His resurrection makes us righteous in the eyes of God. His Spirit comes into our lives to transform our ideas and beliefs, our values and attitudes as we read the Bible. He conforms us slowly into the likeness of Jesus. Heb 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. :13 And no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. God is not dead, nor is His Word, the Bible. We are only fooling ourselves if we think it does no apply to our society.

If you open up the pages of the Bible or view God's Word online. It will always remain the same. Although man does like to change it to suit his needs a lot of the time. The Words of the Bible pertain to man throughout a lifetime.

The bible is God's word and it is the truth despite the common sensibilities of today's world. Sex outside of marriage (as God has defined between a man and a woman) is still sin that will keep you from heaven Men and women are better suited to differing roles. Gender does not bend Knowledge and technology (aka man's truth) are still inferior to God's truth and we must still submit ourselves humbly to God's will and God's way
