No one will deny that someone can be saved in an instant, that's not being debated here...

The thief for my example isn't good because he wasn't coming off the cross without divine intervention. But, here's an example. Let's say a man is going to be electricuted and says he accepted those three things you stated. 10 minutes before the switch is thrown, the govenor calls and gives him not only a stay, but a pardon due to some last minute evidence (that part is a stretch, but assume it for argument's sake).

Now, that he has been freed and never accepted Christ before going to prison and led a pretty bad life (nothing warranting a death sentence though), would he be a Christian if he said he believed those things and kept on stealing? Or, would he have to do those things that a Christian does (be baptized, live a good life, etc).

The same can be asked of the thief on the cross. IF he had gotten off the cross somehow, what would he have had to do in order to live out his cross confession?

Munari writes...

And, since I'm a Catholic Bible Believing Christian

Eph says..

CATHOLIC... only means "Universal"...not only the RCC Munari...

They stopped being UNIVERSAL long ago...probably around the same time the "Protestants"...stopped protesting...!

Munari says...

I'll say that you would have to look to Paul and see what he says about Judaism and Christianity. Throughout his epistles, he speaks of "works of Torah" not profitting anything. So, to sum up Paul in a nutshell, I think it is safe to say that as long as a Jew keeps those traditions for tradition's sake and does not do them in order to earn salvation, or think that by doing those things in Torah they are saved, then it is ok to practice those things,

Eph writes...

What did Paul say about it 1 COR 5:6:7..then...??

The RCC is still universal. We have Churches anywhere there are civilized people, and even some places where they are not civlized!

1 Cor 5:6-7? I'm sorry, I don't follow, what are you asking?

6 Your boasting is not appropriate. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough?

7 Clear out the old yeast, so that you may become a fresh batch of dough, inasmuch as you are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed.

Cool!  I've used the next verse to show that not only did the believing Jews still celebrate the feasts, but so did the Corinthian church!

v 8 "Let us therefore celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."

Meg writes...

Jesus made it REAL EASY for us to be Christians....

- Believe that  He is Gods son

- He died for our sins

- He rose again (the resurrection)

The way to Heaven is SO EASY.......

Yet WE put all of these attachments onto it.....It ain't so :)

Remember the theif on the cross....

Eph replies...

Well we just gotta clog up the system..then we'll be the only ones smart enough to figure it all out...THEN we can tell others what they should or shouldn't think..we'll be able to say who is and isn't a Christian as long as they play by our rules that WE set up...AND then we'll really have it made in the shade...!

Till about one split second before Judgement day...!

:)

Munari....IN CHRIST we no longer have to keep those traditions..or "leven"..we can cast off that old leven..because IN HIM...we are free....!

1 Cor 11:

1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

2 I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you.

Paul kept the commandments of G-d.  He even took a nazarite vow.  It is right after he completed the vow he told the council that what is expected of the Gentiles is that they obstain from strangled meat, sexual immorality, and food offered to idols, and no other requirements.  I nor Paul have put a burden on anyone.  Eph, in one of your above posts you condemned putting stipulations on salvation, yet you continue to say I am not saved because of what I do, while I have yet to make any stipulations on salvation with the exception of accepting Yeshua's sacrifice.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
