Yahweh an Alien ??

I am new to this message board and have a question. First, I am not a Raelian. I am struggling with Christian belief. I read a book recently which weakened my faith: The Yahweh Encouters: Bible Astronauts, Ark Radiations, & Temple Electronics (it is on www.amazon.com if you are curious what it is about). My question is:

Was/is Yahweh a supernatural / interdimensional being or simply an alien with extremely advanced technology? Please don't attack me. I work in the health profession (so I look at things from a view of science or logic) and was not brought up in a religious household. I read about Yahweh's "landing" on Mt.Sinai in Exodus 19 (there was smoke, lightning, loud noise, quaking,etc.) and Yahweh did not want the people to see what was on the mountaintop. Yahweh often traveled on or in a fast-moving cloud. During the Exodus, the people were lead by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. And there are the wheels of Ezekiel. Wasn't it Enoch who was taken up in a chariot of fire (I don't remember) ? There are other examples. I simply do not understand these things. Maybe I have just been brainwashed by the movies & media that now bombard us with UFO ideology. Is Yahweh supernatural?

Please do not tell me that the above things are part of the strong delusion. That's an easy escape. I am very interested in the views of others, as I search for answers. Thanks.

This sounds very much like what mormons believe. That was not an attack merely an observation.

The only advice I can give you is to read the Bible. Start at Genesis because that sets the foundation for everything else. God created the heavens and the earth. It does not say that he landed here.

When God appeared to Moses at Mt. Sinai it was just that. He manifested in a physical way to show the Israelites that He was God. He did the same for Moses at the burning bush.

As for Enoch. I believe you are referring to Elijah.

2 Kings 2:11

11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

This means exactly what it says. When his time was over God chose to take Elijah to heaven in the form of a firey chariot. His sucessor Elisha was standing next to him at the time as a wittness.

I thank you for your replies. Karen, I will look at those websites. Thanks. No Knight, I am not a Mormon and I don't have an agenda. I'm just an individual who "woke up" one day and realized that death is eminent. I realized that mental or spiritual well-being is more important than these material possessions I've been trying to collect over the years. I also looked in the mirror and did not like the person I had become. Thanks.
