I saw this story about Clinton mentioned more than once on this forum.  Spreading these false stories have consequences.

But every time you post a link about the purported false stores, it brings more attention to the purported false stories.

See how that works?

It's best to just ignore them - PERIOD.

Just as an aside - so called 'fake news' and 'fake news websites' are the new buzzwords - promoted by the MSM.  That alone causes me not to want to post about it, talk about it or in any way give it any credence.

Fake news - to me - is the New York Times et. al.

Pffft.

Blessings,

The link was no so much about a fake story as it was about the consequences of these fake stories.

Look at back on this forum and you will find I was calling these sites fake news sites long before anyone in the media did.

There is a difference between a biased news source (i.e. NY Times) and one that makes up stories out of thin air (i.e. infowars, and the like).

But my point was it raises curiosity among those who might not be aware of the original so-called fake story.  I'm treading lightly here.  Both you and I know (I assume you do) the 'fake' story being referenced.  I do not wish to give it any more credence.

But at the same time, I'm not buying into the MSM crisis du-jour which is 'fake news' in general.  All I have to hear is Mr. Obama whining about it to know it's not something I need to be concerned about.

Here's something to perhaps put a little perspective on the topic:

“FAKE NEWS” HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS… HERE’S HOW GOVERNMENTS HAVE STOPPED IT

Quote

Throughout history, government officials have tried to stop “fake news” through various means before it was published.

The crime of the peddlers of fake news: failing to acknowledge that those in power were perfect saints.

Socrates

For example, Socrates was killed in 399 BC for spreading “fake news”.

His crime: “Failing to acknowledge the gods that the [mainstream media of the day] acknowledges”.

William Tyndale

William Tyndale was killed in 1536 for spreading “fake news”.

His crime: Translating the Bible into English so that everyone could read it for themselves, and no longer had to rely on the clergy to tell them what it said.

Galileo

In 1616 and 1633, Galileo was tried for spreading “fake news”.

His crime: Saying that the Earth rotates around the Sun.

Heretics

Scores of people have been killed over the centuries for spreading “fake news”.

Their crime: Saying anything that the church authorities of the day disliked.

Benjamin Franklin

In 1773, Ben Franklin was fired as colonial Postmaster General for spreading “fake news”.

His crime: Informing the American Colonists about what the British were really doing.

Strongmen

Strongmen of all stripes have cracked down on “fake news”.

The fake news pushers’ crime: Insulting the strongman (gasp!) or criticizing his policies.

Book Burnings

In 1933, the Nazis carried out numerous book burnings of “fake news”. The targeted authors included Einstein, Freud, Kafka, Hellen Keller, Jack London, Thomas Mann, Proust, Upon Sinclair and H.G. Wells.

The authors’ crime: Their book “acts subversively on our future or strikes at the root of German thought, the German home and the driving forces of our people…”

There have been many other book burnings of “fake news” throughout history.

Mussolini

Mussolini had around 2,000 purveyors of “fake news” killed.

Their crime: Opposing Mussolini.

Stalin and the Soviet Union

Stalin handled the peddlers of “fake news” by murdering them or throwing them into insane asylums.

Their crime: Criticizing the Soviet government or Communism.

Other Communist Regimes

China’s Mao and other Communist leaders killed many “fake news” spreaders.

Their crime: Failing to sing the Great Leaders’ praises.

CIA

In 1972, CIA director Richard Helms said anyone spreading “fake news” would be labeled as “terrorists”.

Their crime: Expressing a dissenting opinion.

Reporters

The extremely popular TV personality Phil Donahue’s show – the most popular on MSNBC – was canceled for spreading “fake news”.

His crime: Questioning the Iraq war.

Indeed, many reporters have been fired, harassed, spied upon and even accused of terrorism for reporting stories critical of government actions or policies.

Conclusion

See how easy it is?

If only U.S. Supreme Court justices stopped being such sissies.

Blessings,

-Ed

Send a letter to each of the MSM networks, since they are the ones who have been spreading false stories all along (for decades). Of course, for them the only consequence is that they lost all credibility (and probably revenue), so now they are attacking the alternative media to bolster their own egos.

Indeed they do.  We should ALL try to check out a story before we post it, if possible.  Spreading rumor and gossip is a sin.

If the restaurant truly has nothing to do with child trafficking, then they should sue the site that first published the story.
