whysoblind,

A moderator has respectfully asked that we stay on topic and resist debating the merits of particular Bible translations/paraphrases. If you want to continue this I suggest you start your own thread, or take it to the multitude of other Bible bashing threads that are available.

Hey Bob,

I love the KJV, and I grew up with it, but it is not without flaws. One of the most recent ones that occurred to me is that the KJV mentions unicorns six times. This is not just a simple mistranslation, it is an overlay Greek and Roman mythology. As far as I know there are no Hebrew unicorns. This clearly came from the cultural influences on the translators.

Talk about adding to the word...

Just a thought,

Robert

I use the KJV, but I am interested in checking out the old bible versions, like the Geneva Bible and the 1611 version (two I've never heard of). I need to try and find a christian bookstore locally that may have them.

I like to read the NIV because I have a hard time retaining what I read.

The KJV may be closer to the original scriptures but its like swahili to me

I've heard that the NIV has a lot of changes in it that aren't neccessarily good.

Is there a bible that keeps all the scripture and is easy to read?

Yes...........there is.

that's why I love the NKJ (New King James)

It's so easy to read, but so close to the original Version, the KJV, or AV (Authorised Version)

Yomo

We should probably be stock piling all the current bibles cause from what I understand they really want make the scriptures PC.

If that happens , I would think the next step would be outlawing KJV and such

That may not be so farfetched, in that there are places where such a struggle exists.

I read a book recently called, The Heavenly Man. It is about Brother Yun's walk with God in China. When the book starts no one in his town had ever seen a Bible. After having a dream about an old man offering him bread, he gets a Bible and begins to memorize it. Its an excellent book. It also details his excape from a maximum security prison, what a miracle. I highly recommend it. You will appreciate the freedoms we have here(in the US) all the more.

God Bless,

Robert

I would love to make a debate on this, even though i will respect your wishes and not, i prefer the KJV. I use only the KJV and belive that it is the infalable word of God, and wish never to use any of the other versions. Many versions, by the way, leave out many verses and change verses around. I am strickyl for the KJV and so is the church that i attend.

I have a bible that has 2 translation. One is NIV or New International Version. The other is a translation called the Message. It reads just like a letter from God. Is that cool or what!
