Jews arent allowed to write God's name because it's sacred, so they use an abbreviation, but otherwise, I don't know.

Messianic Jews and Gentile believers who have associated themselves with the Messianic Jews. These guys are the ones who tend to write "G-d."

Because Christians in the past have so abused the Jews, Jews don't trust us Christians. And so, these guys who interact with the Jews have chosen to humble themselves of their "opinions" and have worked to relate to the Jews as a means of healing those wounds.

I mainly see this done by the "Sacred Namer" crowd, but it stems from the Jewish "tradition" to not name in word or in writing the Holy Name of God. You make a good point about the Name of Jesus, but it will fall on deaf ears. Many others write G-d so as not to offend the Jews. But the Gospel is already an offense to them for the sake of the Gentiles, so it is rather a moot point to attempt not to offend them yet share the Gospel with them.

Actually DE, ((some)) Jews are very open when it comes to Gospel if you back it up with the Old Testamet. But they will get offended if you say God.

It is safer to explain to them the Gospel using G-d

Yes I am aware that the bible was written in greek and hebrew amongst other languages.

I've met a lot of people who say they believe in god, but don't believe in Jesus. So my point is if there are other gods out there that Jesus isn't related to , I would think that saying our father's name is God would be like saying john wayne's name is cowboy.

I thought his english name was actually Jehovah
