2 questions

first - Is dicernment considered apart of the spiritual gifts? Most of the time when I talk about the things I see I come off as negitive or whatever..until 'whatever' happens. I 've read the list of spiritual gifts, and this isnt included so what could that be, just educated guesses?

and it's also a promise that when I get saved my family will also. Does this mean literally my blood line, like my dad that isnt in my life, or family like people who I'm in contact with and care about? My kids / wife obviously, but say if I have had a child hood friendship that I've been witnessing to, would that fall into that catogory?

Spiritual discernment is something that is given to the Body of Christ, much like your physical body has the ability to recognize what is part of it and what is not.

There is no promise of salvation to your household in the Scriptures. It would be nice if there were, but there just isn't. Which is why it is so important to preach the gospel to your family!

1 Corinthians 12:10 - to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

I think you might be thinking of this scripture:

Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

This is talking about when Peter (Simon) went to Caesarea because the Lord had given Cornelius a vision and told him to send for Peter because Peter would tell him the words, whereby he would be saved and all his household.

Him and his household had to hear the word and make the decision for themselves.

so decernment of spirits is exactly what? is that when you can see demons in people and tell if someone is possessed , or is it on the level of decerning someone's personality or a series of events before they happen?

thats been happing to me for the last few years. I'll hear about someone else's issues and I'll get a thought or gut feeling, and usually its 100% correct. Or more close to home I visited a church and figured out who was there for god, who was there for hitting on women and who was there because their wives made them..just by the 'meet and greet your neighbor' part..

Could this be my spiritual gift?

I don't really know how to explain it. In my own experience, I can look at someone and know they have a spirit of "whatever" on them.

We were doing a deliverance and the guy was saying something and everybody was like "oh he's been delivered, we're all done now" but I knew he had a lieing spirit and we were not done. I think he shows us these things so we know how to pray.

The Lord will also give you discernment about a situation so you know weather to steer clear or proceed.

Always use wisdom!
