Found this picture on line, similar to the ones we played with as kids. They had candle driven, but we used alcohol in a small cap, would burn/steam the  water in the recirculating tubes at the rear. Called them pop pop boats. They were presents to us kids, from our parents, to light a fire in the bath tub, and race around with the fire burning for propulsion. Parents were cool back then.............:D

Want to start an old person's club? A prerequisite would have to be that a person has to be at least 60 :)

But I was only 5 when I played with my submarine.

Says right on the package not for under 6 year olds use. You could have hurt yourself.  Kinda funny  they have tried to repackage this old  premium as a stand alone  "toy" but have to put today's warning on the package. I had one too back in the mid to late 1940's I think, probably came inside some hot cereal  that tasted bad box. Think there might have been a  Naval fleet, I seem to remember a cruiser that propelled along as the soda bubbled.
