The Gov will have to pay to have the food shipped in then house somewhere, then pay people to pass it out. Id's will have to be check as they can't have just anyone showing up and getting food. So that needs to be consider. Also something to consider is will this cut into the local grocery store's income? Some small towns like the one I live in count on the first of the month when people get their food stamp money to be a busy day. If they will no longer be heading out to the local grocery stores, employ hours will be cut. I know this because I worked in retail. Slow days means a cut in hours. I am going to research this some more and see if I can find a bit more info on it. The food would be shipped anyway to the store, so there would be no additional cost. The cost would be a savings of over 129 billion dollars over ten years. So it is cheaper than what they are proposing now.

It is probably better food than they get for themselves. I have seen all of the junk food people buy on food stamps. We have the fattest, most obese poor people on the planet, here in the US. You can in my state. There are fast food places that have signs that say they take ebt cards (food stamps).

No. It is cutting down on abuses. Some see the food stamps as free money to buy whatever they want. Including things that shouldnt be permitted. There was an expose many years ago showing that folks are buying twinkies and soda instead of healthy foods or even food basics.

You're not supposed to be able to do that, but it is not enforced. You can take out a cash withdraw on the debit card and then buy whatever you want. I am curious. How would you recommend the feds and states cut back on the rampant fraud that occurs with food stamp cards?
