'And Terah took Abram his son,
.. and Lot the son of Haran his son's son,
.... and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife;
...... and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees,
........ to go into the land of Canaan;
and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
.. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years:
.... and Terah died in Haran.'

(Gen 11:31-32)

Praise God! The journey has begun into the land of promise.

'Now the LORD had said unto Abram,
"Get thee out -
.. of thy country,
.... and from thy kindred,
...... and
from thy father's house
unto a land that I will shew thee:
.. and I will make of thee a great nation,
.... and I will bless thee,
...... and make thy name great;
........ and thou shalt be a blessing:
.......... and I will bless them that bless thee,
............ and curse him that curseth thee:
and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.'

(Gen.12:1-3)

Praise God!

(The Holy Spirit by Stephen in Acts 7, tells us the reason why they started from Ur (Gen. 11:31-32, Acts 7:4), and shows us how earthly relationships may hinder a perfect obedience to God's call.  Until Abram's father Terah, an idolater, died, the obedience was not complete.  The first call was simply 'get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred' (Acts 7:3),  Now it is added, 'from thy father's house' - Gen. 12:1 - see also Gen.12:5 & Gen. 15:7)

'So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him;
.. and Lot went with him:
.... and Abram was seventy and five years old
...... when he departed out of Haran.
And Abram took Sarai his wife,
.. and Lot his brother's son,
.... and all their substance that they had gathered,
...... and the souls that they had gotten in Haran;
and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan;
and into the land of Canaan they came.'

(Gen 12:4-5)

'And Abram passed through the land
.. unto the place of Sichem,
.... unto the plain of Moreh.
And the Canaanite was then in the land. '

'And the LORD appeared unto Abram,
and said,
"Unto thy seed will I give this land:
and there builded he an altar unto the LORD,
Who appeared unto him.'

(Gen 12:7)

Praise God! For His plan and purpose, and for His promises, which are 'yea' and 'amen'.

Genesis 12:8

8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Not sure I'm following correct procedure in posting this scripture, but just want to thank our Father for this powerful verse! Read it as if I had never 'seen' it before. And I hadn't! Not like today. Praise God!

(* Thank you, '@In Him', I will PM you.)

'And Abram journeyed,
.. going on still toward the south.
And there was a famine in the land:
.. and Abram went down into Egypt
.... to sojourn there;
...... for the famine was grievous in the land.'

(Gen 12:9-10)

Praise God! Another lesson to be learned
