I must say for the record, people must be very careful before they make the assumption that someone has committed the unpardonable sin.

Imagine the devastating effect that would have if you told someone that they had no hope and that not even Jesus would forgive them. Just think about the implications here.

If we even hint at such a possibility, can you imagine what that would do to this boy?

This is spiritual suicide...to tell someone they've done something so bad that not even God will forgive you! Whoa!

We must remember what scripture tells us - that God is not willing that any should perish but is patient toward us. Each of us are living proof of that.

Shadow - I had to laugh at your description of the "syndrome"! Too funny!  I asked my husband where in MI he had worked and he said he was around the same area as you were! NEAT!

Thank you all for your help on this!  I have learned SOOO much from all of you!

He has turned himself around in the last week. He finally realized that it has been over a year now that all this has been going on and that he wasted over a year of his life in which he could have been doing the things the other kids his age are doing instead of being in constant trouble.  I am just praying that this isn't another one of those times he is just pretending - he has done that so many times - and that this time he really means it when he says he is sorry and that he is tired of the way he has been.

It has been hard on him - he lost all his friends because of his lies and stealing from them.  And because it is a very small school - only about 300 kids K-12th grade - EVERYONE in the middle school part and high school part knows and they stay away from him. He has a very long road of "recovery" ahead of him.

This reminds me of my own life.  First of all, I don't see any evidence in the Bible that it is too late for your son, nor do I see any evidence that you can lose your eternal salvation.  In my own life, I walked the aisle at a young age, but by not practicing spiritual discipline I ended up rebelling against God and family.  I have since heard Him call me back.  I'm not sure if I was saved when I was younger or not, but I know that I am now.  One big factor in turning me around after a dozen years of living a lie was my mother daily praying for me.  Also, her prayer group and several other prayer warriors.  Keep on praying and hoping.  God is a wonderful God who desires only the best for all of us.  Jeremiah 29:11
