Bi-polar

27 years old and was diagnosed as being bi-polar when he was 11. He was born with a chemical imbalance. This type is very hard to treat with medication because the slightest thing can throw it off even on meds. Since he is unemployed he can even get help and no access to the medications that do help alittle.

He has 5 children by 3 different girls, never married any of them. Has been hospitalized numerous times for the condition. Has been in prison 3 times, and jail..........who knows how many times. Can't hold a job because of his condition and has trouble getting a job because of his record. Owes about $50,000 in back child support. Lives with his Mom, who even though she loves him is frustrated to the point of pulling her hair out.

Also has drug/alcohol problem.......................but that is normal with people who are bi-polar.

He also knows his Bible like you wouldn't believe. Prays and prays and prays for God to help him get his life straightened out. Talks to everybody he can about God and the Bible and seeks help for all the problems. Except when he is on the upper side of the Bi-polar ride. Then he is ten foot tall and bullet proof. He is also extremely mean, hateful and yes evil when he is in this condition. When he is on the down side of it, he has to be carefully watched because he will and has hurt himself and attempted suicide.

Any ideas on what to do?????

I'm pretty darned sure it's demonically related. Fasting and prayer are in order first....

Leonard, demon posession is not an option here. It's clearly a case of mental illness, and that's all it is. Rather than trying meds, what kinds of therapy have they tried on him? Have they tried intense psychotherapy? Transactional Analysis? Have they tried Behavior Modification? Perhaps the meds he's on are simply not strong enough or not the right kind to help him... or perhaps he needs therapy along with his meds. Just a thought. I'll be praying for him, too, though, for whatever it's worth.

Does your county have a case management agency for people with mental illness? If you're not sure, look for a county mental health agency or look in the phone book under "social services". If that doesn't work, try the state level.

A caseworker can be a great advocate to help access needed services.

I seem to be missing a line or two at the begining of your post. Is this a relative or friend?

I sympathize with you, as I work with people who have a dual diagnosis; it's an incredibly tough road for them. But with lots of support and intensive treatment they can get it under control.

Don't give up. Keep fighting to get the help this guy needs; and you may really have to fight for it.
