You do realize that light was created before there was evening?

Gen 1:3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Oh man.. Do you believe there was darkness before light came into the universe...  Why can't you simply accept the clear Biblical definition of a day?  It starts at sundown and ends at sundown..

Psa 115:3  But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

We don't keep sabbath days any more. Christ is our rest.

Interesting....  I actually posted that in the wrong thread. I went back and posted it on the other thread.  Wondered where it went.

For those that believe the day starts at sunset, how do they explain this verse:

Gen 19:34  And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

i can not see how this poses a problem...she mentions a 'daytime (morrow) and a night time (yesternight) and 'this night also'.....it does not have to mean 'on the same day, does it ?

Gen 19:34  And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

Because it says they are already on the MORROW and they are now saying let us make him drink wine this night also.  That night that belonged to the morrow would have already passed if you believe in sunset to sunset for day.

What about here - did they get the order wrong?

Num 11:32  And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

If a day starts with evening then shouldn't it have said they stayed up all that night and all that day?

Some believe the sabbath day begins at sunset.  Others believe it is at midnight.  Others at sunrise

The Sabbath day is only during the period of light and therefore only began at sunrise and ended at sunset.

It is important to understand that otherwise, trying to figure out time related events in the scriptures become difficult.  Such as passion week, etc..

No, the sabbath day begins at sunset because ancient Israel operated off of a lunar calendar and on a lunar calendar days began in the evening and went to the following evening.
