However, the point DE brought up that the Two Witnesses do not have to be two people but could be two groups does have some merits to consider.

Revelation 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

Greetings,

Lets compare this verse to another in Zechariah.

Zechariah 4:11 Then I answered and said to him, "What are these two olive trees--at the right of the lampstand and at its left?" And I further answered and said to him, "What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?"

Then he answered me and said, "Do you not know what these are?"

And I said, "No, my lord."

So he said, "These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth."

So we have candlesticks or lampstands, which we know represent the word of God. Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105.

We have oil which represents the God's Holy Spirit. We have oil (the spirit) which flows from the gold pipes, golden oil drains (the source is God) which flows to the prophets who communicate it though God's Word.

Also we have in both verese "standing before the God of the earth" or "who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth." Who is the Lord of the earth? Jesus, who created it. Where in the past have we seen two prophets "standing beside the Lord of the whole earth?" At the Transfiguration, we see Moses and Elijah standing with Jesus as a witness to His divinity. At that time we also have clouds, and a voice saying: "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" We have the ultimate testimony of who Christ is.

Moses and Elijah were taken to heaven. There they stand "before the God of the earth" as trophies of salvation through Christ. Their testimony in the Scriptures burns with divine light as oil of the Holy Spirit flows to the candles.

John 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of me. (We have the word "testify"This is what witnesses do)

Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. The gospel is preached through he Scriptures as a witness.

So we can see that Moses and Elijah, the law and the prophets, represent the Word of God. The Old and the New Testaments.

In Christ,

CarolineS

The only thing I know about the two witnesses in Revelations is that they will be given great power over the elements . The are greatly anointed by the Holy Spirit. The whole earth will be watching them and because evil will be so widespread, they will be killed in the streets of Jerusalem with the world watching. (I used to read that and wonder how the whole world could see them, now that we have wide spread news coverage, it is easy to see how everyone can be watching) They will lay in the streets three and 1/2 days with the world having a party to celebrate their death...and then...suddenly....right before the whole worlds eyes...they will rise and the Lord will speak to them and they will assend into heaven! Wow!

I, too, have heard it said these men will be Elijah and Enoch. However, I do not see that scripture backs that up anywhere except perhaps Zech 4:14 which does not tell us their names. We do know these men have been given power much like, but even greater, Moses and Elijah and Elisha.

I know the Word says it is appointed for man to die once and then the judgment, and that because of that scripture, some believe because Elijah and Enoch did not die so it must be them. However, that is not sound because very soon there is going to be a great catching away of the Body of Christ. That is called the rapture.

And none of those who are caught up to be with the Lord die either. 1Thes. 4:17

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
