What area is defined as the MidWest?  I know Wisconsin is upper Midwest and there are several busts of methlabs each year in our region, and they have even created meth taskforces.

Also:

Where did you find the article on the combat pilots and meth at the beginning of this thread?

Hi OA~Hey... Yes, the darkness does flee. I use to flee from people too. I did not want them to even talk to me...talk about shodow creepin'...lol. Meth has become a WW epidemic not confined to one area any longer...

What's the difference between amphetamines (what those pilots were taking), and methamphetamines, which you keep referring to? Is one more potent or addicting than the other?

Hi Timothy~

Only difference is "amphetamines are prescription", meth-amphetamines are ILLegally made. Same effects.

The amount it takes to give them a "buzz" this week will not work next week. Double increase to get the minimum, but the minimum "buzz" is no longer adequate now.. body wants MORE!   And there is the problem... the ones who are taking this RX dose will start looking for other ways to get their "buzz". Taking pills from others..especially those who don't want them will lead to a bunch of addicts at the end of their term of service in the Gulf. When they return home they will find the street equal, "meth" to continue this addiction the GOVT has started... Ask any Viet Nam Vet what happen to them upon return?  

They are not doing them any favors by administering "speed" to these pilots...

 As a USAF physician I have never heard of any pilot taking methamphetamines.   They do use "No-Doz" but then I lived on legal stimulants as a medical student and later resident physician where I was working 120 hours/week.  Really it would amount to drinking a lot of coffee.   The USAF has a zero-tolerance policy on any drug abuse.  I read carefully through the entire long posts...most of which had useless information.....and could never make out exactly what form of methamphetamines the pilots were supposidely taking.   I cannot speak to the case but it sound like lawyers are now involved putting just the right spin on the facts to mount a vigorous defense for their clients.

They have admitted to isssuing AMPHEDAMINES to the pilots... There is a problem.. Read the story posted for full details including the head of the "speed enforcing" task force...

  Thanks for that warm welcome...I have stepped into some heated discussions on this board and may have already made some enemies.  I am a Family Physician who takes care of the general base population including sometimes pilots.  I will ask some of the flight surgeons what they know about pilots and amphetamines....but I tell you the whole thing smells fishy.
