Very well then.

I offer a question; Who offered comfort to iyov in the beginning and end of his Life?

If they repent we have gained our brother, if they repent not, nothing is gained, the comfort same to Job when he did well, but when he did not do well, and like ourselves, as everybody knows, we need to repent, and to not despise the chastening of the Lord..

Luke 17:Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Matthew 18:Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Job 42:6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Jobs friends spoke through God also, in case nobody recognises this..

Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Proverbs 3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:

Hebrews 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

Thank you Gordon for getting back to me. I hope you see my confusion in the way you wrote the statement was not clear, but I now understand. Have you gone back to that reply to see the error?

I know it was not clear, and thanks for highlighting that, maybe it is more clear now.

God Bless you also and thanks again for recognising how I meant what I had said, as I did not want to speak too controversially about Christ.

I have had this question for some time and posed it to a friend the other day, although worded somewhat differently...

How much of our life is predetermined by God and how much is free to choose?

100% free to choose. The Lord lays out a plan. We decide whether or not to follow.

How free was Peter not to deny Jesus 3 times after Jesus said he would do just that?  How free was Peter not to die by crucifixion after Jesus said that would happen?  How free was Judas Iscariot not to sell out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver when the prophets said he would?

Jesus knew what was going to happen.

Once it was decreed, if it didn't happen, Jesus and the prophets would have lied.

Yes he did.  He also created them for a purpose, just like the Apostle Paul, who was a chosen vessel.
