It seem this was posted previously here on Worthy's forums. Checking the archival listings failed showing up having been submitted, so I thought this was worth a re-run for those of you interested in NASA's space programming capabilities. This video taken in time lapse also shows the world's lights flashing across our planet. And yes, obviously the Earth is round! There's some very stunning footage here. I hope you all will enjoy the view. God bless.

Beau, when I look out my window to the west I see a bright star in the sky. I am thinking it is a planet. Do you know which one?

Generally speaking, what you're probably seeing is the planet Venus. It always appears as the "first star" coming up on the horizon. "Starlight star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." So the childhood poem goes. Do you remember it?

Is it situated by the moon?

Yes, it can be depending on the orbital lunar positioning. And also Venus can appear in a slightly different placement during our Earth's rotation and axis at that time as well. Venus always seems to be viewable in the western portion of the night sky.
