Chinese Students in American Christian primary schools

Hi,

I wonder with the political reality that is unfolding, what will the financial effect be on many private Christian schools in the USA? So many have actively sought out Chinese students in order to receive the income absolutely needed to continue functioning, and to also be  giving grants or scholarships to needy potential students.

As example; I do know the numbers for one such school of 350 students 40 of which are Chinese. They will be raised  in the USA by families that take them in for a stipend. The schools receive a significant amount in tuition under the "program" too. The forty students of this one school generate the income that pays the entirety of instructors salaries. Without it the school would be in very serious financial jeopardy.

More importantly is the reasoning for the existence of the program. Chinese families pay to have their child get into the program they then give up their child to  be educated in the USA which make sit far easier for that child to then get into a USA university. When finally an educated adult they return to China to make their "homeland"  more productive utilizing their education, one that would not have been available to them at China. The families are very much interested in athletics and especially baseball, a good baseball program being pretty much an essential for a private school trying to recruit  more Chinese students.

At this time private ( Christian) schools are greatly dependent upon  State and federal grant programs to students. If that money dries up and the Chinese program gets shutdown due to the politics of the day. The private Christian schools will quickly go bankrupt. Leaving  really just two remaining option home school and public school. Well plus for the very affluent a few very expensive private academies.

Seems a shame. In that I have been involved to some degree with two private Christian Schools, ( family having founded one totally independent one) and I worked for another I have appreciation for the constant struggle administrators have to keep  the schools functioning.  I do forsee them all collapsing unless there comes a benevolence from all the brethren whether they have children in schools or not.

Perhaps there will be a uniting of cyber classrooms under private Christian schools and home schooling parents. At any rate I do think there will very soon be a major transformation.

If Chinese cannot come into the USA now, then  there will not be a new "crop" of students this fall, presuming schools are open come fall.

And if annual funding dries up what happens to the students already  here in the USA with adoptive or really fostering care givers? What do they do?

There seems no end to the complications and the real battle going on now. Like it or not it seems I am in  a one world environment. Trying to make it a my first  my country first  only, does make for a whole new shaking  of the "snow globe". The "snowflakes" in the globe are flying  in furious swirls right now. Can't see the scenery nor even the terrain for the swirl.  It is a white out, a time of awareness of how weak man is without assurance of hope certain  that is of Jesus alone. Time to enjoy the wonderful assurance of the word of God the Bible, time to pray  in all matters, and to give thanks to God for through it all  He is there with us. so what do you hear about Chinese students an dsupport families fo rthe up coming school year? What of those living here now? Any knowledge to share here?

Neighbor, I teach at the high school and college level in California and yes, international students bring in a lot of revenue for schools, both private and public at all levels, as international students pay so much more than do students who are residents of the states in which they live.  But this is part of a bigger and newer idea that appears to be sweeping across America: become more dependent on ourselves for our pharmaceuticals and PPEs and our cell phones, etc and less dependent on China to produce them.  I am totally fine with bringing more manufacturing back to the US, just expect to pay higher prices for these items as Americans simply can not work for the wages that the Chinese work for.

If you want manufacturing of goods to return, then expect to pay more for them!  That is the price to pay for the security of knowing that our products are American made and I hope that Americans fully understand this trade-off.

Hi, and a belated welcome to Worthy Christian Forums.

Why hope?  Sorry, I don't follow that comment.  The USA is at war simple as that. Our survival requires us to have multiple sources  from which to acquire needed goods medicines and services. Many manufacturers will have to be built up with  an all out urgency.  Much  of the build up will be relying on AI like never before. Up front cost be damned.

Right now it is the supply transportation stream that  is broken. There are goods and services but not functioning transportation.
