See, I will make those of the Synagogue of Satan who say they are Jews, and are not, but say what is false; I will make them come and give worship before your feet, and see my love for you.

What are we talking about here?

Does it have anything to do with what some consider themselves to be- "spiritual Jews or Israelites"?

Yeah, it's probably talking about all those who are proponants of replacement thology, two -house movement, British Israelism, etc...........

Paul says that in order to be a true Jew one must have a circumcision of the heart...that simply being of Abraham doesn't mean one is truly Jewish. He was most likely refering to hostile Jewish congregations. He would not have considered them truly Jewish because they had no circumcision of the heart.

There were some in Smyrna who were laying false claims to being spiritual Jews. Those who embrace the truth embrace a Jewish hope (Acts 28:20), and are counted as spiritual Israelites (Rom 9:7-8)

These verses might be taken one or two ways, and I am probably just reiterating what others have said.

1) Paul addressed those Jews who had crept in and tried to cause those Christians who had been set free to once again come under conformance to the "law". Even Peter was enticed into preaching FOR circumcision until Paul upbraded him.

2) Then there are those who believe that God is "finished with the Jews", namely gentiles who believe that the promises given to the Jews are no longer valid and they are now the sole heir of all the promises of God - basically Gentiles, or at least mostly Gentiles or those that have been persuaded that "whosoever will" which in this last case, is true, but they forget that because of the promise to our Jewish Fathers, the Jews are still loved by God and will again one day have their heart softened to receive the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I personally believe that many, (not all) Messianic gentile churches that have sprung up over the years are of this 2nd group.

I hate to rain on your Parade BUT!!!! Did you know - and I found this info on a Jewish website commentary.....

The Christian Religion drills into your head that there is a beast called SATAN and his number is 666. In Jewish language the word VAV is often translated as W which is 6 and theirfore WWW has the numerical value of 666 (Yah-I know your online right now) actually 666 is 6+6+6=18 so WWW is equivalent to LIFE.

So, I guess this means - since were ALL living that were ALL Satanist.
