I was told by another poster to just hover over a post and push Control ++ or Control +++++ and it will enlarge (and also will slightly darken) the text. I wear yellow fitover glasses which help with all of the whiteness. Also, if you have a long post that looks hard to read, it will help some if you mouseover highlight the whole thing and then go to the line with the big B in it and click that and it will make it all quite black and bold. I clicked "Worthy alternative" and it went back to old style it appears, or very close, and with the serifed Georgia typefont and bigger type but less scrolling to see your post and the toolbar. Thanks! (I did have to do Control plus F to find Theme, as it appeared somewhat differently on my screen, tiny) I hope this is not a transitional alternative.
