Being delivered from this will take much work.  Unpleasurable work that involves your heart, mind, soul, and body.  I would advise you talk to your doctor and ask for some ideas for professional help.  Especially since you are 20 years old and have been addicted since you were 8 years old.  Please - see your doctor.  He will keep everything private.

Meditate on this: 2 Timothy 2:22. You can remember it by all those twos.

"Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

Paul is talking to Timothy, the young preacher, who is just starting out.

He give three critical steps:
[1] "Flee the evil desires of youth....." = That means to RUN! Turn the computer off. Abstain from it as much as possible.  Concentrate on what this has done to your body, your heart, your mind, and your soul and FLEE!  God says in the Bible that there is a "way of escape" from the burden of temptation - that we can BEAR it.  What is that?  The first thing is to ask God for mercy and grace.

  • Hebrews 4:16 says to "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

[2] "...and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace...." = You can't run away from something without running TOWARDS something else that's better. If you don't have something to run TO, you will be like the dog that returns to eat its own vomit as Proverbs 26:11 says. Find things that exercise your heart, soul, strength, and mind the RIGHT way.  Read the Bible everyday, pray daily, exercise, eat right, get good hours of sleep/rest, find productive things to do, hang out with good and godly friends, find hobbies that don't require you to use the computer.  And don't tiptoe AROUND this addiction like it isn't there.  BOLDLY rebuke it, attack it, call it for what it is - an abomination before God, and turn your back on  it.

[3] "....along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." = You must find others who have defeated this and fellowship somehow with them. Develop Christian bonds with a small few whom you can trust to help hold you accountable. There REALLY is strength in numbers. But most of all strength in Christ Jesus.

I was hooked at the same age. The Lord actually made it revolting to me. I didn’t talk to anyone about it...Just prayed for deliverance (and put post-it notes of scriptures all around the study)

accountability software is also a good idea.

if someone wants to be free, they will be.

same with all the other addictions that you mentioned, they’re all a distraction from The Lord, and they’re all as bad as each other.

I was researching this for you and see that there is porn blocker software you can install on all of your electronic devices. They say have someone else do it and not give you the password. That may be difficult if you don’t have anybody you feel comfortable asking though.

The apostle Paul teaches us to meditate on pure things. Not sure if that helps you but it helps me. Not only that but I'm tired of sin, I want Jesus. I want the joy and peace. Never give up, never.

I’m tired of sin too. And shame, guilt etc.

had an experience years ago, where I was free from any ‘known’ sin. There were no barriers, and all I wanted to do was praise The Lord, it was like my praise was acceptable to Him, and I was finally free to...

Did you know that 1 John answers the question, "Who is he who overcomes?"

Yes, they who overcomes are those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God:

1Jn 5:5 KJ3 "Who is the one overcoming the world if not the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

And just a few Scriptures prior it says:

1Jn 5:2 KJ3 "By this we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and keep His commandments."

We don't always keep His commandments sometimes, don't we? Matter of fact, we sometimes blatantly walk in disobedience (lawlessness), and sometimes we walk this way for year's.

But thanks be unto God for His mercy and grace, as long as we have breath, as long as we still have blood pumping in our bidies, as long as we wake up the next morning, life itself is a testimony of another chance.

Another chance to repent. Another chances to correct our thinking. Another chance to soak in His presence. Another chance to accept His healing to re-sensitize our consciousness, so we are able to hear Him speaking in our souls and hearts... AGAIN!

I use Covenant Eyes for what is called screen accountability. I have a dear and trusted friend, who is a Pastor of a Church, that is my "Ally". I asked him if he is willing to be my accountability partner, and he agreed.  He gets daily reports of what I view on ALL my screens, whether they are my phones and computers.

Here's a referral link if you might be interested:

I have to admit, once I made the decision to wholly jump in, realizing I needed help, it's like a huge weight has been lifted.

Thank you but I don’t have an issue with porn I was just trying to find a way to help the poster, and to put this information out for anyone else who may need it. I never knew this software existed until I looked it up for this post.

“My son, listen closely to what I am saying. Let my life be your example. Prostitutes and bad women are a trap. They are like a deep well that you cannot escape. A bad woman waits for you like a thief, and she causes many men to be unfaithful to their wives.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭23:26-28‬

There is no end of opinionated people who give their take on the matter of pornography, lust, etc.

The ideal world would be where stark nudity didn't matter.

Eden (Genesis 1-3).

We haven't been there as a race for 7 - 10 thousand years.

Now that we have this shame based obsession with nudity...

the next ideal world would be that of everyone (men and women) wearing berkas and only being in a less

state of dress in front of our spouse. Period.

The Law of Moses is clear on the subject and it applies to men and women (which is why Jesus commented in Matthew 5:27-30 when the Sanhedrin was enforcing the Law on the subject of nudity on women  only). Matthew 5:27-30 is only echoing Job 31:1-13. The Sanhedrin had Leviticus 18:8 and Isaiah 47:1-3  covered ... so to speak...

The woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11) may have only been sporting her hair in public, or her calves... or God forbid a miniskirt... for violating these tenets of the Law.

This was under the Law (in effect until the death of Christ on the cross: Hebrews 9:16-17).

Today... under Grace and not Law... men are not compelled to gouge out their eyes for looking and women are not to be stoned for showing their hair or their legs and thighs in public.

Ironic how people who accept both of these practices condemn, harass, harangue those who indulge more of the exact same thing they are doing by observing pornography. Jesus says first remove the log from thine own eye before you HELP HELP HELP your brother with the speck in his eye.

The one who judges the other for the same things they excuse themselves for are the ones with the log in their eyes (not about which sin is "bigger").

Pornography is addictive. Obsessive. It can and will devour you and all around you. It can fuel the flames of perversion that will destroy your life and others especially if you act on them.

Interesting to note... you can substitute many other things for the word pornography here... drugs, worldliness, power, money / greed, self will, etc.

The point being: We are to help others. Not slam them. And hypocrisy  is not the way to go about helping others.

Look in the mirror folks. Are we on the same path as those we judge? Maybe just a lesser degree...

My husband watches naked women fornicate while I bedeck myself to be the most fetching female around for all to see...

I make my wife dress in a moo moo but I nearly break my neck turning my head to check out the hotties in public...

Where does it end?

The thing is, people can obsess over things that simply exist in this world.

Matthew 18:7 (NASB95)
7 “Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!

Add these to the charges all unbelievers will face in judgment and to those believers are forgiven of in the rewards...

King David and Solomon and so on had harems and concubines... under the Law... it wasn't right it wasn't good, but it wasn't the end of everything.

I have known many people who divorced over adultery and I know people who overcame after adultery and their marriage is stronger today than before.

Why?

Realism. Realistically estimating human beings, including ourselves, our outlook, our expectations... considering we are all from a fallen sin natured source (Adam) we should appreciate what little good we show all the more...

Unrealistic ideals and expectations only disappoint and discourage.

I'm thinking of the princess ever remarrying looking for that storybook prince charming each time making herself less and less a princess in the process....

I have found talking with our spouse about the fantasies we have and willingness to assist each other through them (acting them out in the privacy of the bedroom with just the spouses) robs the porn industry like nothing else. Fantasy is a strong tool. Pretend.

1 Corinthians 7:5 (NIV84)
5 Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Your spouse exhibiting lust? Get to work satisfying them. It's not your job to rake them over the coals or drag them through divorce court, but to get jiggy with them. Men and women.

Wear 'em out. Porn? What porn?
