I'm reminded of the scripture of Jesus being asked if the Hebrew people should pay their taxes to the Roman government.  He asked to see a coin and asked whose picture was on it.  They replied Caesar.  Jesus then said to render to Caesar what is Caesars and render to God what is Gods.

Then I got to thinking.  Whose picture is on the one dollar bill?  Isn't it George Washington?

Yea, Joe Biden will get none of my money!

LOL.

Romans 13:1-7 makes it clear that we should pay taxes.

It would be way easier to pay taxes if could just throw in a line and pull out fish with coins in their mouths.

If I don’t pay taxes I’ll either get a huge fine or go to jail.

So I pay my taxes. :D  No matter who is in office.

Illinois has been overspending for decades, and this year they asked the voters to raise taxes via a progressive tax (currently flat tax by constitution) in order to fix the problem because more money always fixes the problem for government.   We voted no. There’s not a revenue problem in government, there’s a spending problem.

You get asked to vote on state taxes?

I suppose it's because you always voted for them, but now that you voted against them they will probably never give you the opportunity again.

Usually the only taxes I get to vote on are things like school levies.

The Illinois constitution has a provision in it that the taxes must be flat. Therefore, after deductions, everybody pays the same rate, currently 5% (ouch!). The politicians want to do, wink wink, raise the taxes on the top 3% and they promise cross their hearts, Boy Scouts honor that they would never go lower than that.
It required a vote to pass a resolution in order to change the constitution.
