It's the little things.  Being a good steward in all God had entrusted is a biggie.  Use it his way, or loose it.
Giving money is simple. But giving time, help or resources, listening etc has a more eternal 'reward'.
What does it mean to 'lay up treasures in heaven?
Well, I want to look forward to the moment I stand before God, and not be empty handed.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor

rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal"

You said: "What does it mean to 'lay up treasures in heaven?" To me it's just like when we have money enough to put it into a saving's account for future use. Then when we really need it...there it is. Our spiritual "saving's account" is in heaven, not here on earth. And some day we will be rewarded for all we have done to further God's Kingdom here on earth.

I would say that our attitude should be one of thanksgiving, since our heavenly Father can do more than we could ever expect or imagine.
