Holy Ghosts - Holy Spirits - Why are some earth bound?

Years ago, the Bible spoke of Holy Ghosts. Todays, Bible calls them Holy Spirits.

Why are some of them earth bound?

I think you mean THE Holy Spirit...of which there is only one. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity; God, tri-une, expressed in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, teaching us, and helping us. This is evidenced in John 14:25 & 26, when Jesus said:

"All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

snow4jc, can you point out scriptural references to ghosts or spirits? Like Iryssa I know only of the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit, who are one in the same.

There is THE one Holy Spirit of God. He is God. Its the one that allows to say JESUS is the LORD. I believe the "seven Spirits of God" in Rev. refers to the infinite and the perfection of the most High. Note: The phrase "Holy Spirit" occurs in the Bible seven times.

1Co 12:3 KJV

(3) Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Out of Interest, and for those who don't believe in the triune Godhead, here it is mentioned in the OT. The following chapter mentions "the Son of God". Dan 3:25

Dan 2:47 KJV

(47) The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

God of gods = Father

Lord of kings = Word/Son

revealer of secrets = Holy Spirit
