Do you desire to be punished by Jesus? 

If not, pay attention carefully to the kind of people who are punished by Him:

•    Zeph 1:8,9 -> “Then it will come about on the day of the LORD’S sacrifice That I will punish the princes, the king’s sons and all who clothe themselves with foreign garments. “And I will punish on that day all who leap on he temple threshold, who fill the house of their lord with violence and deceit.”.

Did you take heed at who would be chastised?

1 - the princes, the king’s sons – although every king’s son is prince, many people were looked on prince in virtue of their character or ability in war (). They were being punished because they were misleading people. As James said:

•    James 3:1 -> “Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.”.

2 - all who clothe themselves with foreign garments – all of those who belong to Jesus, ought to clothe with pious and honesty: 

•    1Tim 2:9,10 -> “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.”.

3 - all who leap on he temple threshold – certainly the Israelites were adopting this custom from the Philistines:

•    1Sam 5:4,5 -> “But when they arose early the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD. And the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold; only the trunk of Dagon was left to him. Therefore, neither the priests of Dagon nor all who enter Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.”.

4 - Who fill the house of their lord with violence and deceit – Many people excuse themselves for their injustice, cruelty, misdeeds, etc. alleging that they were obeying orders. The fact of you are working for someone and depend on your job to make money don’t allow you to trespass Jesus’ commandment of loving our neighbor as He loved us (John 13:34,35).
