Are we a man like Job, who was perfect and upright, and one that feared the Creator, and eschewed evil (Job 1:1)? 

•    Pro 16:17 -> “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.”.

There are people that prefer sort out the problems with wars than submit to the Creator. See the case of Damascus: 

•    Amo 1:3 -> “Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:”.

The Creator made the Syrians go out of Kir (of Moab – Amos 9:7) and they, regrettably, didn’t recognize this. Instead, they tried to destroy His people. In virtue of this, the Creator promised to efface the standout buildings of Damascus:

•    Amo 1:4 -> “But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.”.

Hazael and Benhadad were two cruel kings that made great destruction in Israel. Therefore, their constructions were very magnificent. But the Creator always invest chiefly against the haughty people (as we can see, for instance, in Ezekiel 17:13,14).

It is for the same reason that the Creator obliterated Damascus, Aven and the “house of Eden”:

•    Amo 1:5 -> “I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.”.

But the worst part is that the Creator, who delivered Syria from the serfdom of Kir, now promised to send them back to their captivity.

The truth is that there are people that love so much the turpitude. Read about Hadad in (1Kings 11:14-22,25). Although he had in a marvelous and splendid life in Egypt, he decided to go out of all the pomp wherein he lived only to torment Israel. He preferred to carry out his vengeance than enjoy a cozy life in the presence of people who liked him.

So, have a great day veering from all appearance of evil (1Th 5:22) and only focusing in all the goodness (1Cor 2:9; Eph 1:3; 3:20; 2Pe 1:3) and abundance of grace (Rom 5:20) that the Creator already prepared for you.
