He said in Mark 16:15 - 18 that the disciples were to complete the work He began in the earth. And in order for them to be able to do the works He'd done, He told them as recorded in Acts 1:4 - 8 to wait in Jerusalem for the power of the Holy Spirit to come upon them. Jesus had already said in John 14:12 that the works He did and even greater works would the disciples do after the Holy Ghost was come. In John 16:6 - 7 Jesus acknowledged that the disciples were sorrowful because He'd told them that He had to go to His Father in Heaven. But Jesus went on to let them know that it was better for Him to leave them in order that the Holy Ghost could come! In John 20:21 it is recorded that Jesus told the disciples that as the Father had sent Him, even so was He sending them. And so is He sending you and I today! The Holy Spirit is here now, today, presently to enable the Body of Christ (us, the members) to take authority over the devil in this life in Jesus' name. When the first Adam sinned by disobeying God's command, he gave his God-given right to rule over this earth and everything in it to God's enemy, the devil. Remember the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness? In Luke 1:6 - 7 we read where the devil took Jesus up onto a mountain showing him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. He told Jesus that if He would worship him that he'd give them to Jesus. The devil said they'd all been given to him and he could give them to whomever he wanted to. But thank God, Jesus quoted the command of God where it was written that man shall worship and serve only God. Later as recorded in Matthew 28:18 Jesus told the disciples after His resurrection that all power in heaven and earth had been given to Him! So here we have the second Adam, Jesus, obeying God's command and thus getting back the power that was given to the devil by the first Adam's disobedience. You and I are to exercise the authority of Christ in the earth today. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. But we must follow His example and follow in His steps and we must live like He did, fully dependent on His Father with the Holy Spirit. He lived here as a man by faith. Seek God through Jesus with the Holy Spirit and He will be found. Knock (take action on your seeking) and His will shall be opened unto you. Then you can ask whatever you desire and it shall be given to you. Because if you're purpose is to share the gospel, you will receive it. The gospel is good news for those who are oppressed by the devil and you can deliver that good news to them. Jesus finished His role and now sits in Heaven waiting on the Father to send Him to get His Bride, the Church. And God is waiting on the Church to make herself ready. Are you getting ready? Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. But if the same Spirit that Raised Christ from the dead is not in you. It would be a good thing to know if He's not. Especially if you are teaching the Bible with a sterile Jesus and gospel. And have your hope in salvation. They always put up some kind of argument, try to play let's make a deal or intimidate you or their host. Alot of people love their brothers and sisters enough to wrestle a demon for them. But it's true. Some don't. Many are afraid and shrink back.
