What are we fighting for?

•    Pro 17:5 -> “Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.”.

Perhaps we aren’t scorning the poor. Nevertheless, many times, we are giving occasion for other people mock the poor. For you figuring out, every time that we keep back from the poor or veer our path from them (as did the priest and the Levite in – Luke 10:30-32), we are expose them to suffer, be humiliated and, even die:

•    Pro 31:8,9 -> “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”.

Maybe you will say: “but I don’t have time and there are many needy people in the world”.

Yeah! Regretfully, we are like Martha (Luke 10:38-42): full of occupation. Jesus said that only one thing it was necessary: hear His voice and abide by it (see John 4:34; 6:28,29). If we stay resting and biding in Jesus enjoying His companionship (Ps 37:4,7) and only we act under His word (Luke 5:5), we would have all the energy necessary to help our neighbor as Jesus wishes (John 13:34,35).

The truth is that we dally very much on vain entertainment and wear out in works whose food perishes (it does not endure to eternal life – John 6:27) and never can satisfy (Isaiah 55:2). 

This kind of attitude, many times, wind up turn us into a violent man (as it happened with Israel):

•    Am 3:10-12 -> ““They do not know how to do right,” declares the LORD, “those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.” Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “An adversary shall surround the land and bring down your defenses from you, and your strongholds shall be plundered. Thus says the LORD: “As the shepherd rescues from the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the people of Israel who dwell in Samaria be rescued, with the corner of a couch and part of a bed.”. 

In the end, we won’t be able to keep nigh nothing. After all: 

•    Pro 11:24 -> “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.”.

When I say violence, this doesn’t mean necessarily anything cruel. From the moment that we don’t apportion of our good with those who have right to receive it (Prov 3:27), we are debarring them of fulfilling all Jesus’ purport for them (do you wish more violence against someone than to make hard their walking toward the Creator?).

So, have a good day fighting for the overcoming of the needy (pore on 2Cor 1:3-5; James 2:14-18; 1Peter 5:8,9).
