Do you seek out Jesus? How? Where? When? Why?

•    Amos 5:4-7 -> “For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live; but do not seek Bethel, and do not enter into Gilgal or cross over to Beersheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into exile, and Bethel shall come to nothing.” Seek the LORD and live, lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, with none to quench it for Bethel, O you who turn justice to wormwood and cast down righteousness to the earth!.””.

Many times, we say that we accepted Jesus and we are seeking Him. Nonetheless, let’s think: 

1 – Where are we seeking Jesus? Israelites was seeking Him in the chief religious places:

•    Bethel: this was the place where Jacob had a meeting with the Creator in a dream (Gen 28:18,19);
•    Gilgal: this was the place where the Creator rolled away the reproach of Egypt from the Israelites (Joshua 5:9);
•    Beersheba: this was the place where Abraham and Abimelech swore in favor of Abraham (Gen 21:31).

Apparently, everything was fine. Nevertheless, see that the recommendation of the Creator was to seek Him out of these places. And the reason for this is: although these places had its historical and religious importance, from the moment that they began to desecrate the Creator there, He pass to hate these places.

This take us to the second asking:

2 – How are we seeking Jesus? The Israelites wasn’t seeking the Creator. Their aim was to have an amusing time. The rituals were  a kind of passing time, a meeting club, chiefly in these 3 religious places. And don’t think that they were only entertaining. Let’s to the next question:

3 – Why are we seeking Jesus? The Israelites used the cult to turn justice to wormwood, cast down righteousness to the earth and feed themselves from the sin of people (see Amos 2:6-16; Hosea 4:8). As in Jesus’ time, when Pharisees and Sadducees used the Creator’s law to take over Israel’s people. Finally, the question:
 
4 – When are we seeking Jesus? The Israelites sought the cult always it was fit for them (Amos 4:4,5).

In other words: they sought cult their flesh. The leaders used the Creator’s cult as an excuse to oblige people to gratify their salacious demeanor.

And what about us? What is our stance?

Do we go to worship and praise the Creator only in the days established by the religious institution in order to appease our tormented conscious so that we can keep on sinning more and more (see Jer 7:4-11)? Or are we seeking Him because we long for having in us the beauty of His holiness (Ps 29:2; 96:9), His pacific fruit (Heb 12:11)?

So, have a good day seeking Jesus on a daily basis every moment, aiming to be an expression of His life in this world (1Pe 2:18) so that people can recognize that you are with Jesus (Act 4:13). After all, we are the true place of worship and praise to Jesus (1Cor 3:16; 6:19; 2Cor 6:16).
