What is the importance of being a true and steadfast witness?

 

·       Pro 19:5  -> “A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will *not escape*.”.

 

This verse is quoted again below, with only one change:

 

·       Pro 19:9 -> “A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will *perish*.”

 

Something similar is cited in another proverb and in psalms:

 

·       Pro 21:28 -> “A false witness will perish, but the word of a man who hears will endure.”.

·       Psa 120:3 -> “What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? A warrior's sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree!”.

 

The reason can be seen below:

 

·       Pro 6:16-19 -> “There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, *a false witness who breathes out lies*, and one who sows discord among brothers.”.

 

Hence the Creator had been clear:

 

·       Exo 23:1 -> “You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.”.

 

But what does it mean to be false witness? See the verses below in this English version:

 

·       Exo 20:16 (ESV) -> “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”.

·       Psa 15:1 (ESV) -> “O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;”.

 

It isn’t only to cheat people, gossip about them, slander them or witness against them although when they are righteous. We can’t accept anybody being victim of mischievous people. As the Holy Scripture says:

 

·       Pro 31:8,9 -> “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”.

 

So, have a good day always manifesting the truth so that all the works of the murkiness can be annihilated (Eph 5:11) and people can have access to the truth which can free them (John 8:32) of the bonds of the Ha-Satan (Lam 2:14; 2Tim 2:25,26) and able to reconcile them to the Creator and, with this, be new creature (Jer 23:18,22).
