Are you able to refrain your wrath?

•    Pro 19:11 -> “Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.”.
•    Pro 12:16 -> “The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.”.

I know that it is difficult to overlook an offense. Nevertheless, to whom are we really harming?

•    First: if we are able to hurt someone, we will reap it (Gal 6:7-9);
•    Second: regardless if the person is hurt or not, recollect that, so that you can make damage, first this damage pass by you to, only then, reach the person.

Therefore, we ought to follow what is written below:

•    Pro 17:14 -> “The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out.”.

Unfortunately, every human being always desires to be exalted. If conflict starts, hardly those involved will wish to stop until prevail (what is opposite to what Jesus taught – Mat 21:25-28).

On the other hand:

•    Pro 15:18 -> “A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.”.

Hence wisdom to be related with longanimity:

•    Pro 14:29 -> “Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.”.

Therefore:

•    Pro 16:32 -> “Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”.
•    Jas 1:19,20 -> “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”.
•    Pro 20:3 -> “It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.”.

I know that our sense of “justice” induces us to crave for seeing people paying for all their evil. Nonetheless, what did Jesus enjoined us personally and through His apostles?

•    Mat 5:44,45 -> “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”. 
•    Col 3:12,13 -> “Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”. 
•    Eph 4:32-5:1 -> “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.”.
